VICTORY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 48 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 2/17/2016 6:59 PM

In the middle of a huge seven event MMA sandwich this weekend will be the sophomore effort of Victory Fighting Championships on the UFC Fight Pass. The event will see a battle for the vacant VFC Welterweight Title as Jason Jackson faces Victor Moreno. Also, Cameron Olson faces Jordan Young and ten other top MMA competitors will be stepping into the cage.

Main Event

VFC Welterweight Title Decision Fight

Jason Jackson (4-2-0) vs. Victor “Superman” Moreno (37-22-0)

Jackson will be making his VFC debut in this fight and the only two losses in his career have come to UFC veterans, they were Hayder Hassan and Colby Covington. Moreno has won six of his last seven bouts and he will be returning to VFC competition for the first time in just over two years. Jackson will be returning to action after a year-plus absence and he is a veteran of the Fight Time MMA promotion. Moreno is currently a champion as he enters this fight as he is the current Midwest Cage Championships Welterweight Champion. Jackson has some good skills, but Moreno has a amazingly huge experience edge and he uses that to finish Jackson with strikes in the first.

Co-Main Event

VFC Welterweight Division Fight

Cameron “Captain Crunch” Olson (2-1-0-1NC) vs. Jordan Young (4-0-0)

Olson will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Khalil Rountree at RFA 25. Young has already competed once in the VFC promotion, as he defeated Cody Sherwood by submission at VFC 46. Olson will be competing in the fifth different promotion in his five fight career as a pro, he previously had competed in the King Of The Cage promotion. Young is on quite the good run thus far in his professional MMA career, with all of his wins being first round finishes. These are two competitors who have some quality ground games, but it will be Young submitting Olson in the first to remain undefeated.

VFC Featherweight Division Fight

Anthony Baccam (8-4-0) vs. Kamuela “The Jawaiian” Kirk (5-1-0)

Baccam will be making his VFC debut in this fight and he has previously challenged for the Caged Aggression Lightweight Title. Kirk will also be making his VFC debut in this fight and only one of his six bouts as a pro went to judge’s scorecards. These are two competitors who are good wherever the fight ends up, but it will be Baccam getting the close decision win here.

VFC Middleweight Division Fight

Rakim Cleveland (11-7-1) vs. Jaquis Williams (6-4-0)

Cleveland is currently undefeated in VFC competition, having defeated Mark Scudder at VFC: Fight Night Harrah’s II. Williams has rotated wins and losses in his last six bouts and this fight will mark his promotional debut. Cleveland has been on the verge of a breakthrough to the bigger shows for awhile now, he finishes Williams with strikes in the first to get there.

VFC Bantamweight Division Fight

Nate Endres (0-1-0) vs. Bryce McKeever (0-1-0)

Endres will be making his VFC debut in this fight and he dropped a bout to Allyn Case at Midwest Cage Championships 61. McKeever made his professional MMA debut at Midwest Cage Championships 60, losing to John Milledge. These are two fighters who are getting a pretty big opportunity despite both being winless as professionals, but it will be Endres giving McKeever the second submission loss of his career.

VFC Welterweight Division Fight

Jeremiah Deever (4-2-0) vs. Mike “The Real Pretty Boy” Estus (7-3-0)

Deever will be making his VFC debut in this fight and he will be returning to action after being away for just over a year. Estus will also be making his VFC debut in this fight and he has only won just one of his last four fights. These are two fighters who are going to want to put the other on the ground as quick as possible, but it will be Estus outworking Deever on the ground to earn the decision.

VFC Featherweight Division Fight

Christopher Dunn (9-6-0) vs. Justin Morrison (8-7-0)

Dunn has rotated wins and losses in his last six MMA bouts, with his last bout being a loss to Lloyd Carter at Colosseum Combat 31. Morrison will be making his VFC debut in this fight and he is coming off of a loss to UFC veteran Tim Gorman. Dunn is a better fighter wherever the fight ends up and he will mix up his attacks to get a decision win over Morrison.
