BELLATOR 150 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 2/25/2016 9:45 PM

Despite losing the main event the day before the show, Bellator 150 still trudges on with a card that is still worth checking out. The event will now be headlined by a heavyweight division bout as Cheick Kongo battles Vinicius Queiroz. Also, David Rickels faces Bobby Cooper and a pair of female flyweights will be kicking off the main card.

Main Card

Main Event

Bellator MMA Heavyweight Division Fight

Cheick Kongo (23-10-2) vs. Vinicius “Spartan” Queiroz (8-3-0)

Kongo has won three of his last four under the Bellator MMA banner, most notably defeating Alexander Volkov at Bellator 139. Queiroz will enter the fight on a two fight winning streak, which inlcudes a win over UFC veteran Lavar Johnson. Kongo was in the UFC for many years before joining Bellator MMA, but he did win eleven fights in the promotion. Queiroz has only competed once in the last two-plus years, which was a win over Ewerton Teixeira at Bellator 143. Kongo will want to hold Queiroz against the cage wall and decimate him with strikes on route to a decision, which is exactly what will happen.

Co-Main Event

Bellator MMA Lightweight Division Fight

“Super Duper” Bobby Cooper (12-5-0) vs. David “Caveman” Rickels (16-4-0-1NC)

Cooper is currently undefeated in Bellator MMA, including a win coming over Marcio Navarro at Bellator 113. Rickels has only won just one of his last four fights, with that lone win coming over Davi Ramos at Bellator 130. Cooper has fought a total of three UFC veterans throughout his career and he has losrt to all three of those veterans. Rickels has not put together a winning streak of any kind in nearly three years and that last winning streak lasted four fights. Rickels will want to use his striking to counter Coopers wrestling, but Cooper will ground him on route to a decision.

Bellator MMA Featherweight Division Fight

Gaston “Tonga” Reyno (5-0-0-2NC) vs. Chuka “The Lion King” Willis (6-2-0)

Reyno will be making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight and none of his fights as a pro have gone past the opening round. Willis will also be making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight and he has previously competed in the World Series Of Fighting. Reyno is a submission wizard and he quickly grounds, then submits Willis in the first round to stay undefeated.

Bellator MMA Middleweight Division Fight

Francisco “Kiko” France (13-3-1) vs. Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove (22-15-0-1NC)

France is currently undefeated in Bellator MMA and he is a former Resurrection Fighting Alliance Middleweight Champion. Grove has rotated wins and losses throughout his Bellator MMA run, with his last bout being a win over Joey Beltran at Bellator 143. Grove will use his range to keep things interesting for awhile, but France will occasionally ground and submit him late in the fight.

Bellator MMA Women’s Flyweight Division Fight

Lena “Hunter” Ovchynnikova (10-3-0) vs. Rebecca “Becky” Ruth (5-1-0)

Ovchynnikova will be making her Bellator MMA debut in this fight and she had previously fought UFC veteran Joanne Calderwood. Ruth will also be making her Bellator MMA debut in this fight and she is a longtime veteran of the Shamrock FC promotion. Ruth will want to use her striking against Ovchynnikova, but Ovchynnikova survives and submits Ruth late in the first.
