CES MMA 33 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 3/9/2016 7:33 PM

Kicking off another weekend of MMA action will be CES MMA 33, which will feature some of the best top MMA talent in the New England area competing. The event will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight as Andre Soukhamthath defends against Kody Nordby. Also, Chuck O’Neil faces Dennis Olson and Bellator MMA veteran Matt Bessette will be battling in the cage.

Main Card

Main Event

CES MMA Bantamweight Title Fight

Andre “The Asian Assassin” Soukhamthath (9-3-0) (Champion) vs. Kody “The Rookie” Nordby (6-3-0)

Soukhamthath will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Carlos Galindo at CES MMA 31. Nordby will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak and all three wins came via first round finish. Soukhamthath has fought all but one of his professional MMA fights in CES MMA, his lone fight outside of the promotion came in the Cage Titans promotion. Nordby has only saw one of his professional MMA fights go the distance, that fight happened over a year ago at a cage Titans event. Nordby is a submission wizard and he grounds the striker in Soukhamthath, then taps him in the first to win the championship.

Co-Main Event

CES MMA Middleweight Division Fight

Chuck “Cold Steel” O’Neil (15-8-0) vs. Dennis “The Menace” Olson (14-10-0)

O’Neil will enter the fight on a two fight losing streak and he once challenged for the CES MMA Middleweight Title. Olson has only won just one of his last four fights and he is coming off of a two fight run in Bellator MMA. O’Neil has also been competing as a professional wrestler as of late, mostly appearing in the Beyond Wrestling promotion. Olson has actually competed a total of four times in Bellator MMA and he has yet to win a bout in the promotion. These are two fighters who are badly in need of a win, but it will be O’Neil ground and pounding Olson to a first round finish.

CES MMA Featherweight Division Fight

Matt “The Mangler” Bessette (16-7-0) vs. Taurean “Tory” Bogguess (14-10-0)

Bessette has won three of his last four fights and that includes two wins under the Bellator MMA banner. Bogguess has won two of his last three fights and he will be returning to action after being away for nearly a full year. Bessette is known for a quality wrestling game and he grounds Bogguess on route to gaining a decision win.

CES MMA Heavyweight Division Fight

Juliano “Banana” Coutinho (6-2-0) vs. Chaz “White Death” Morgan (9-1-0)

Coutinho will be returning to CES MMA after a two-plus year absence and he did compete once in the World Series Of Fighting. Morgan will be making his CES MMA debut in this fight and all but one of his bouts ended in the opening round. This fight is going to be nothing short of a slugfest from bell to bell, but it will be Morgan finishing Coutinho with strikes in the first.

CES MMA Heavyweight Division Fight

Keith “Bad News” Bell (6-6-1) vs. Greg “Ribz” Rebello (19-6-0)

Bell has won just one of his last four fights and he will be returning to action after just about a year-plus layoff. Rebello will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which includes a win over UFC veteran Mike Mucitelli. Bell is going to be vastly over matched in this encounter, Rebello finishes Bell with strikes in the first round.

CES MMA Lightweight Division Fight

Nate “The Snake” Andrews (7-1-0) vs. Julian “Nitrane” Lane (9-5-1)

Andrews has spent his entire professional MMA career in CES MMA, with his most active year in the promotion coming in 2013. Lane will enter the fight on a two fight losing streak and he is a former CES MMA Lightweight Champion. Andrews skill set is more well rounded when compared to Lane, Andrews grinds out a decision over the former champion.

Preliminary Card

Taylor Trahan over Joe Pingitore

Cruz Johnson over Gary Balletto Jr.

Matt Tullos over Alvi Mochigov

Noel Arcibal over Shane Decristoforo
