The United Wrestling Coalition returns to Kelly’s Bar/Banquet Hall in Wrightstown, New Jersey on March 12 for our Anniversary Show--That’s right, the UWC is entering its 20th year!! As usual, doors open at 6:30, with a 7:00 p.m. bell time. Admission is $10.
To celebrate our Anniversary, there will be a special UWC Legends Six-Man Tag Team Match. We are bringing back six of the United Wrestling Coalition’s all-time greats for one night only!
The first wrestler who agreed to participate in this Legends Match was none other than “Dirty” Don Montoya! Don Montoya reigned as UWC Heavyweight Champion for nearly two years after winning the title in a match that also involved Kyle Durden, Alex Payne, and Raven. One of the top independent professional wrestlers, “Dirty” Don Montoya wrestled for the UWC from 1998 through 2010.
“Sterling” Rick Silver will also be in the Legends Match! Rick Silver was a UWC mainstay from 1998 through 2000. He was a frequent tag team partner of Don Montoya, and the two came close to winning the UWC Tag Team Title in 1999. In 2000 at the Mount Holly National Guard Armory, Rick Silver defended the UWC Heavyweight Title on behalf of reigning champion Tommy Force; unfortunately, he lost Force’s championship to Tundra. Silver returned briefly in 2010 to manage the team of Dave Patera & Textbook Philly Madison. His last appearance to date was in 2013 when he wrestled Joe Rules.
Mark “Cannon” Melaccio too will be in the Legends Six-Man Tag! Cannon won the UWC Heavyweight Championship in a battle royal and enjoyed a six-month title reign. He also headlined the first-ever pro wrestling event held at a Six Flags Theme Park when the United Wrestling Coalition invaded the North Star Arena in Jackson, New Jersey. Cannon appeared at numerous UWC events between 1998 through 2001. In his most recent appearance, he made a special one-night comeback in 2014 to settle an old score with The Unholy Alliance.
Also in the Legends Match is Bubba from Cell Block Four! Originally known simply as 08015 (his prison number) when he debuted in 2006, the big man would go on to join Devastation, LLC and win the UWC Tag Team Championship with his partner and fellow inmate at the time Big Rig when they defeated Special Forces in 2010. His work release privileges were revoked in 2012 when he used an illegal submission
maneuver in a match, but the United Wrestling Coalition has made arrangements to grant CB4 Bubba a special one-day parole to compete in this event.
Just added to the Legends Six-Man Tag: The honorable UWC President and former Heavyweight Champion Joe Rules! Joe Rules first wrestled for the UWC in 1999 and has been with the promotion in one role or another ever since. Often managed by Luxurious Lynne, Patricia M. Steinman, or Liz Savage, in addition to being a former Heavyweight Champion, Joe Rules is also a former North American Champion, as well
as the longest-reigning United States Champion in UWC history. He was rated in Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Top 500 Wrestlers list four years in a row (including #500 in 1997), he was the first-ever JAPW Heavyweight Champion, and he was once a guest on the nationally syndicated Jerry Springer Show.
Joe Rules has been the Commissioner of UWC on two separate occasions, and he also managed a stable of wrestlers known as Devastation, LLC. Joe Rules has not wrestled since April 13, 2013 when he battled long-time rival Rick Silver in his last match, drawing a sold-out crowd to the Browns Mills Fire House. This GWF and SWF Hall of Famer returns for one night only to commemorate the UWC’s 20th Anniversary!
And there’s still one more participant! We’ve decided to keep this one under wraps until March 12, but rest assured you will NOT be disappointed by this Mystery Legend! We guarantee this is one match you do not want to miss.
In addition to the Legends Match, Textbook Philly Madison will defend the UWC Heavyweight Championship; however, he has refused to put the title on the line against The “Thriller” Andd Bivians on March 12. “I already pinned Bivians fair and square in December,” said Madison. “The rules are clear: I beat the Number One Contender, so I can defend my belt against whoever I want!” We don’t know at this time yet who Philly Madison will wrestle, but it’s clear he wants no part of Andd Bivians!
“The One” Geoffrey Bravo will defend the UWC United States Championship.
The Tag Team Title will be up for grabs at Kelly’s Bar/Banquet Hall as The Short Bus Express is scheduled to defend against the duo of Big Rig & Nathan Avery. Although they won the championship in September, The Short Bus Express has not defended the title stateside as of yet. Big Rig & Nathan Avery were deemed Number One Contenders after a huge victory over The United Force. It looks like The Short Bus Express will have their work cut out for them.
The United Wrestling Coalition was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of “Iron” Mike Sharpe in January. After his lengthy in-ring career, he opened a wrestling school in 1991, training many students who would go on to be top wrestlers in the northeast area and UWC in particular, as well as nationally-known superstars such as Crowbar, The Wall, Ace Darling, and Simon Dean. In memory of Canada’s Greatest Athlete, four wrestlers he trained who are on UWC’s active roster to this day will compete in a special tag team attraction: Warhead & The Orphan will do battle with members of The Unholy Alliance. Join us March 12 in Wrightstown as we remember “Iron” Mike Sharpe.
Also signed to appear March 12 at Kelly’s Bar/Banquet Hall: The Great Cerenzio, Fredo Majors, Nate Mustang, Spectrum, Ring Announcer Daisy, Chris Wilcox, and more!
Remember, the UWC Anniversary Show will take place March 12, 2016 at Kelly’s Bar/Banquet Hall, 14 Railroad Avenue, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. Bell time is 7:00 p.m., and tickets are $10.
