Sami Callihan Unable to Attend AAW's EPIC event
Earlier this week, AAW Champion Sami Callihan was informed by Lucha Underground he was needed in Los Angeles this Saturday for the company's season three tapings due to an emergency. Originally Mr. Callihan was booked to defend the AAW title against Tommaso Ciampa in the main event of EPIC on Saturday, April 9. However, Mr. Callihan has a contract with Lucha Underground. We at AAW realize with the current independent professional wrestling landscape, there are many opportunities for talent to sign long-term contracts with other great organizations like Lucha Underground and understand our roster has priorities outside of AAW. We at AAW along with our heavyweight champion Sami Callihan apologize for the cancellation. Refunds for EPIC can be requested through emails to admin@aawrestling.com.
Given the fact the AAW heavyweight championship will no longer be defended on the show, we have had to update the card for this Saturday night's huge event at the historic Logan Square Auditorium. We at AAW have strived to bring in some of the finest talent worldwide for the show and because of that Zack Sabre Jr. will be wrestling in the main event this Saturday night against Tommaso Ciampa. When Sami Callihan pulled off the show, we went looking for someone to add to this show and we have found an individual that AAW fans have been asking about despite having only been a part of this sport for a very short time. Therefore, a new match added to the show this Saturday night will see the AAW debut of Timothy Thatcher facing another AAW debut in UFC star Matt Riddle.
