RESURRECTION FIGHTING ALLIANCE 42 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 8/18/2016 6:10 PM

Although the main focus in the MMA world will be on a certain rematch this Saturday Night, there is still a great card from the Resurrection Fighting Alliance taking place on Friday Night. RFA 42 will be headlined by a huge lightweight division fight as UFC veteran Christos Giagos faces Arthur Estrazulas. Also, Ray Elizalde takes on Alex Perez and WSOF veteran Cody Bollinger competes as a late replacement fighter.

Main Card

Main Event

RFA Lightweight Division Fight

Christos “The Spartan” Giagos (12-5-0) vs. Arthur Estrazulas (8-2-0)

Giagos has won just one of two fights since his UFC release, with that lone victory coming over Karen Darabedyan at RFA 38. Estrazulas will be making his RFA debut in this fight and he does hold a win over UFC veteran Chris Tickle. Giagos fought a total of three times in the UFC, but his lone win in the promotion came over Jorge Antonio Cezar De Oliveira at UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. LaFlare. Estrazulas will be competing twice in the same year for the first time since 2011, which is a five year gap. Giagos has been less than impressive in his last few outings, Estrazulas grounds and submits the UFC veteran in the second round.

Co-Main Event

RFA Flyweight Division Fight

Ray “The Bloodhound” Elizalde (10-0-0) vs. Alex “The Decision” Perez (13-4-0)

Elizalde has already fought once under the RFA banner, which was a third round TKO win over Richard Alarcon at RFA 38. Perez will be making his RFA debut in this fight and he is a former Tachi Palace Fights Flyweight Champion. Elizalde has not seen one of his fights go to a decision in over three years and he is a veteran of the Xplode Fight Series. Perez will enter the fight on a two fight losing streak and he has not earned a victory in just over a year. Elizalde has good skills at every spot the fight can go, but Perez out wrestles him and does so for three rounds to get a decision.

RFA Flyweight Division Fight

Shai “Must Be Nice” Lindsey (4-1-0) vs. Steve “The Gremlin” Gruber (5-3-0)

Lindsey is currently winless under the RFA banner, having dropped a fight to Zac Riley via submission at RFA 31. Gruber will be making his RFA debut in this fight and he did compete once under the Bellator MMA banner. Lindsey is good when the fight is on the feet, which is where is shall stay as he finishes Gruber with strikes in the first.

RFA Featherweight Division Fight

Tommy “The Spaniard” Edwards (2-0-0) vs. Adin Duenas (4-1-0)

Edwards has spent his entire professional MMA career in the RFA thus far, with his last fight being a win over Luke Faultersack at RFA 38. Duenas will be making his RFA debut in this fight, but he does have experience competing in Bellator MMA. Edwards has a good striking game, but Duenas has the better ground game and he gets the first round submission win.

RFA Lightweight Division Fight

Davi Ramos (4-1-0) vs. Mike Flach (7-1-0)

Ramos will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to David Rickels at Bellator 130. Flach will also be making his RFA debut in this fight and he has primarily competed in the Gladiator Challenge promotion. Ramos’s best shot at winning is the ground game, but Flach is better on the feet and on the ground, Flach gets a decision win.

RFA Lightweight Division Fight

Anthony “The Shark” Avila (12-4-0) vs. Cody “The Cali Cowboy” Bollinger (17-5-0-1NC)

Avila will be making his RFA debut in this fight and he has only won just one of his last four entering this fight. Bollinger will be making his RFA debut in this fight as well and he once challenged for the World Series Of Fighting bantamweight Title. Bollinger has the experience to pull out the win, even taking it on late notice, but Avila submits him late in the third.

Preliminary Card

Anthony Castrejon over Anthony Torres
