Upstate Professional Wrestling returns to the Eagles Club in Rochester, New York this Saturday for WrestleBowl 2017. Doors open at 5:30 PM. Bell time is at 6 PM. UPW Heavyweight Title Match
"The Young Lion of the West" Mattick (C) VS HC Loc
The main event of WrestleBowl 2017 sees two fan favorites do battle with the UPW Heavyweight Championship on the line. No one had a bigger and better 2016 in UPW than Mattick. The Young Lion of the West finally reached his goal in becoming UPW Heavyweight Champion and also held the No Limits Championship as well. He also seemed to put his feud with Defiance behind him as he teamed with the Monster Abyss to defeat them back in November. Now Mattick has his sights set on bigger and tougher challengers. He'll certainly get that at WrestleBowl in the form of HC Loc. An ECW and ROH original, Loc is a former UPW Champion but had been out of the UPW spotlight for quite some time. But he returned to UPW last year and proved that the "old dog" can certainly still hunt, scoring signature victories over Cloudy and Chris Cayden. He also made a good showing for himself in last year's Upstate 8 tournament. This hard-nosed veteran knows what it takes to get the job done and will do whatever it takes to become a two-time champion. Will HC Loc cap his comeback run by regaining the gold? Or will the fighter from the Flower City continue his winning ways and keep the UPW gold around his waist? Be there this Saturday to find out!!!
UPW Tag Team Title Match
The "Eh" Team ("All Passion" Ryan Cassidy & Vaughn Vertigo) (C) VS The Interstate Educational System
After winning a 4-corners match to become the #1 contenders back in September, The I.E.S. was poised to have the opportunity to hold both the KDW and UPW tag team titles. However, ahead of the UPW title match they wanted, Dewey and the Professor were forced to team with The Wet Bandits against The "Eh" Team and WreckingU in an elimination style match which saw the champs as the lone survivors. Subsequently, in December in a Christmas Deathmatch, Dewey & the Professor lost their KDW tag team titles to The Wet Bandits. Now instead of trying to add another title for their other shoulder, they will be fighting to fill the void of the titles they lost. Vaughn Vertigo and Ryan Cassidy have been holding onto those titles for close to 300 days. They have been fighting champions and have overcome size and strength differences, showing that the heart and passion they have has been greater than that of their opponents. They are two young men who refuse to stay down and keep finding a way to win. However, they are coming up against two men who are pissed off and ready to tear through anything in their way. The Professor and Dewey spent nearly a year as KDW tag team champions, so they know what it takes to win and they also know what its like to lose. Will they be focused on the task at hand and succeed in winning the UPW Tag Team Titles for the first time together? Or will "All Passion" and Double V prove once again that they are the best tag team going in UPW today and it doesn't matter who challenges them, they are walking away champs? "The King of The North" Carter Mason VS "Extremely Cute" Colin Delaney
Carter Mason is another Canadian that has come to UPW and showed that he belongs here. Since his debut at the Upstate 8 tournament in 2015 he's had some great matches, including trying to capture the UPW NO-Limits Title from then champion Mattick. Carter continues to show that he is one of the toughest guys out there. The fans however might view him as tough, but they lack respect for Mason. His actions in the past haven't helped his cause. Someone the fans do think is tough and also have respect for is his opponent, Colin Delaney. He has been in UPW since the beginning, he is certainly a fan favorite, he is also one of the most gifted wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots and step into a ring and he is from right here in Rochester, NY! Delaney proves time and time again that he is as tough as they come and will fight with every single ounce of strength that's in his body to gain a victory. Come Saturday, January 14th at WrestleBowl '17 Carter Mason and Colin Delaney will stand across the ring from each other and go one on one for the first time. Carter has earned the name "The King of The North" in his homeland and he carries that with him as a reminder to people that he is one of Canada's very best. However, Colin definitely has the home field advantage in this one, in what is sure to be a highly competitive match. Find out which one of these men is able to walk away with the W this Saturday!!
"Your Captain" Nick Ando VS "The New Wave" Cheech
At the conclusion of the Upstate 8 in September, Dick Justice was the winner and thus became the new UPW NO-Limits Champion. He celebrated with his friends, Nick Ando, Mattick & Cheech. Out of nowhere, Cheech attacked all three men and left them all laying. "Your Captain" hasn't taken this lightly and has requested a one on one match against Cheech to extract some revenge. Despite his underhanded, dirty tactics, you cant overlook Cheech. You can't discredit his abilities and his accolades. He is a former UPW Heavyweight Champion, a former UPW NO-Limits Champion and a former UPW Tag Team Champion. He has done it all here in UPW and it seems like his gripe is that's exactly what people have forgotten. That he has done it all. Cheech has shown a new side of himself, more intense than we have seen him in some time. He seems very intent on proving that he is still a top contender in UPW. On the opposite side, Ando has done it all too....almost, the exception being the one belt that has eluded him, the UPW Heavyweight Title. While that still remains a goal for "Your Captain", for the moment he has his sights set solely on Cheech. Ando doesn't like it when people make waves, and "The New Wave" isn't anything different. Ando isn't taking kindly to Cheech's new attitude and sense of entitlement. This match is going to be physical and personal as there is certainly no love loss here. Will it be "Your Captain" Nick Ando moving full sail ahead onto the next target? Or will "The New Wave" Cheech turn the ship upside down and sink the Captain? "The Rain On Your Parade" Cloudy VS "The Amazing Canadian" Lionel Knight
Back in November "Everyone's favorite forecast" Cloudy aligned himself with Bin Hamin and Tigerslayer :08. He faced off against Young Myles in what was a very competitive match. However, when Cloudy was getting in trouble, the numbers game worked in his favor with Bin and Coleman providing a distraction allowing Cloudy to gain the upper hand and ultimately win the match. In this contest he takes on another Canadian, an "Amazing Canadian" in one Lionel Knight. A man that has proven since he stepped into a UPW ring that he belongs here and can hang with the very best. Lionel is incredibly athletic and at the same he is as powerful as they come. He posses numerous ways of ending a match. The question is, will the presence of Tigerslayer :08 and Bin Hamin be too much for Knight to counter? Cloudy has been one of the very best in UPW for a long time, like most people, he doesn't take losing well. If he gets in trouble, will he call on his new found friends to bail him out again? Or will Cloudy prove that he can still do it on his own? Both men better prepare themselves for a battle. WrestleBowl '17 comes to you live this Saturday!!!
