After another standing-room-only event, Empire State Wrestling (ESW) returns to the St. Johnsburg Fire Hall, 7165 Ward Road, North Tonawanda, New York, on Saturday, May 20. Mexican wrestling superstar Pentagon El Cero Miedo, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Michael Elgin and Impact Wrestling star Braxton Sutter will be on the card. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with a bell time set for 6:00

p.m. Tickets are $20 for second row and $13 for general admission. All tickets increase $5 at the door.

Pentagon is the reigning champion of Lucha Underground (LU), which airs regularly on El Rey Network and holds on half of the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) World Tag Team Championship with Rey Fenix. He is also famous for holding multiple titles in Lucha Libre AAA World Wide (AAA), including the Latin American Championship, World Mixed Tag Team Championship with Sexy Star and the World Tag Team Championship with Joe Lider.

Canadian wrestling star Michael Elgin returns to ESW after previous facing off against current NXT star Kassius Ohno at last year’s Brawlfest. The current New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) star is also well-known for holding the Ring of Honor (ROH) World Heavyweight Championship.

Braxton Sutter is also scheduled to return to ESW. The West Seneca native scored the victory over fellow Impact Wrestling star Davey Richards in the main event of the previous card.

Rounding out the show, several of Empire State Wrestling’s regulars will be showcased, including ESW Heavyweight Champion Bill Collier, North Tonawanda’s Brandon Thurston and up-and-coming independent wrestling star Dick Justice.

ESW promotes eight shows a year, primarily held at the St. Johnsburg Fire Hall in North Tonawanda, N.Y., boasting crowds of over 400 wrestling fans, who come to cheer the good guys and boo the bad guys of the sport. Larger “super show” events are held at the Kenan Center in Lockport, N.Y. and the Frontier Fire Hall in Niagara Falls, N.Y., drawing crowds of up to 1,000.

As Western New York's premier independent professional wrestling promotion, ESW over the years has hosted many of pro wrestling's top up-and-comers and biggest legends. Current World Wrestling Entertainment stars Kevin Owens, Luke Harper, Goldust, Rhyno, Jinder Mahal, Curt Hawkins, Cedric Alexander, Rich Swann and Tony Nese have appeared in ESW's ring. Pro wrestling legends Kevin Nash, Brutus Beefcake, Billy Gunn, X-Pac, The Honky Tonk Man, Jim Duggan, Demolition, Matt Hardy, Raven, The Sandman and several others have also appeared at ESW events.

Founded in 2002, ESW is run by Brett Stymus of Lockport. Over half of the performers involved in ESW reside in the Western New York area. For more information or to schedule an interview with anyone mentioned above, please reach out to
