KMMAF JOINS IMMAF AS MEMBER

(London.16 May 2017) The Korea MMA Federation's application for membership has been accepted by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation ahead of next month's 2017 IMMAF Asian Open in Singapore. IMMAF is looking forward to welcoming Team South Korea to participate for the very first time.

Founded in 2008 and based in Seoul, the KMMAF is registered with the Korea Olympic Committee (KOC) on which the federation's President Kim Dae Ryeong sits as a representative. The organisation oversees over 600 MMA clubs and gyms nationwide including the Korean National Police MMA association. It organises Amateur MMA competitions 2-3 times a month and the professional ALL FC quarterly, which is broadcast nationally via SBS TV.

IMMAF President, Kerrith Brown, said:

"Korea's martial arts history can be traced back centuries 'Before Christ', and the region is rich in different martial arts traditions with Taekwondo its biggest export. South Korea has in recent times been home to iconic martial arts movie action. We are excited to welcome a federation with so much historical legacy into the IMMAF family and look forward to the technical styles that Korean competitors will bring to the IMMAF Asian Open."
