Team Tana issued the following:

We want to send the biggest congratulations to Santana Garrett on her announcement as part of the WWE Mae Young Classic! Santana has been on quite the journey and we're happy to see it always continuing to grow. While this isn't her first time in WWE NXT, this is that next big step to becoming a WWE Superstar!

Santana Garrett started in 2009 briefly in St Louis before moving back to Central Florida in 2010 where she joined the Team Vision Dojo - I Believe in Wrestling School with WWE Hall of Famers the "Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko and Scott Hall overseeing operations.

Santana stayed busy on the Florida independents including SHINE as well as a few out of state bookings before making more of a name in 2013. In the beginning of the year, Santana along with Amber O'Neal become the WOW Tag Team Champions and also appeared on the TNA One Night Only Knockouts Knockdown.

Having success in Shimmer as well, Santana received more notice from the bigger companies. She debuted on NXT the same year in a competitive match with Charlotte. Days later, Santana competed against Taeler Hendrix in OVW - TNA's then developmental system.

Santana ended up signing a 1 year deal with TNA. As Brittany, she feuded with Madison Rayne and former WWE Women's Champion Gail Kim.

She returned to SHINE and the independents winning many championships. The first being the NWA World Women's Championship from Barbi Hayden, followed by the SHINE Championship from Mia Yim (TNA's Jade), and many more followed including men's championships and in Japan, won the Wonder of Stardom title from Io Shirai. Santana went undefeated for almost a full year and had more successful Wonder of Stardom title defenses than anyone in history.

Santana continued to win championships including the WOW Women's Champion as well as continuing to constantly train. She would get better and help better those around her. At the Team Vision Dojo, Santana worked on taking a leadership role and naming the other females students the Lady Warriors. She's trained alongside many including others that have appear in WWE and TNA.

Now, she enters the Mae Young Classic! We are all so very proud of Santana's more than 8 year journey and her being a part of this prestigious event. We look forward to more and more great things from Santana. We wish her best of luck in the Mae Young Classic and expect her to win the whole thing! Go Tana!
