7/4 OVW TV TAPING LIVE REPORT FROM LOUISVILLE, KY

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, July 4, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, Sam Thompson defends the TV Title against Randall Floyd, Ryan Howe & Justin Smooth square up once again in a best 2 out of 3 falls match, plus more!

Here we go...


Pre-Show Dark Matches:

 

Amon (w/"The Void": Nigel & Houdini) defeats BGB. Amon chokes BGB and pounds him in the gut. He grabs him by the hair and launches him out of the ring. Amon clotheslines him on the floor and rolls him back in. He charges him, but BGB moves. Amon clubs him in the back. He misses a kneedrop, and BGB crawls through his legs. He hits Amon, uppercuts him, and hits the Lou Thesz press. Amon pops right back up, connects with the STH, and gets the 3.


Meg defeats Valerie Vermin. Meg with quick takedowns and submission holds. Val can't handle the power. Meg whips her into the corner and clotheslines her. She puts her on her shoulders, but Val slides off and hits her. Meg comes back and hits a long-standing vertical suplex to get the 3.
 

Jordan Blade defeats Jaylee. Exchanges of armbars early. Jaylee takes a breather on the outside. She comes back in and takes control. Blade fires back, misses a clothesline, then Jaylee kicks her in the back of the leg. Jaylee wraps her arm up in the ropes. Off the ropes, Blade goes for a sunset flip, but Jaylee kicks her off. Jaylee locks an armbar and then a headlock. Blade with a chinbuster. She hits a running cutter out of the corner. Jaylee rolls under the ropes. Blade gets her on her shoulders for a Samoan drop for 2.

Jaylee comes back and locks in the armbreaker for the submission victory. Jaylee won't break the hold, however, and the referee reverses the decision.

Gilbert Corsey & Dr. Ted McNaler are on commentary, and Brittany is the ring announcer.

 

The show starts off with a memorial of Matt CappotelliAl Snow, Dean Hill, and Gilbert Corsey all speak as the wrestlers surround the ring. They give the 10-bell salute.

 

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson (c) defeats Adam Revolver. Quick back and forth early, with Sam working over the arm. Adam kicks Sam and throws him to the outside.Ted McNaler gets up from commentary and throws Sam down by his hair and hits him off the apron. Adam locks in a sleeper, but Sam breaks free. Sam takes control and goes up top, but Ted interferes again. Adam goes for the pin and Ted tries to hold his feet on the ropes, but the ref catches him. Adam charges Sam, but he moves and knocks Ted off the apron. Sam rolls Adam up for the 3.

After the match, Adam attacks him and goes after the ref. Sam hits Adam with the Duck Call, then drags Ted in by his beard. He throws him around by his beard and goes for a super kick, but Adam pulls him out of harm's way.

 

DL3 & Shiloh Jonze come out. DL3 talks about how he made stars out ofRandall FloydJaylee, & the Bro Godz. Now he knows someone who looks like a GQ model, has perfect hair...all the while Shiloh thinks he is talking about him.

DL3 brings out Billy O. Billy says he can't argue with what he said and what DL3 has accomplished. He shakes DL3's and Shiloh's hands.

 

"Shotgun" Tony Gunn defeats Ashton Cove. Gunn says hardcore wrestling is garbage wrestling and begins to put on a clinic. Cove comes back with a takedown, but Gunn comes back with a release German suplex and the reverse DDT for the 3.

After the match, Gunn receives a gift addressed to the "best wrestler in the world". Gunn thinks it's from OVW, finally recognizing him for all of his accomplishments. He reads on that it's something for him to wear at the Special from Dapper Dan. It's a dress and Dan comes out and tells him it's so he'll look "dapper" for their match. Gunn is livid again.

 

Michael Hayes comes out and says that Amon will go straight to hell with him and he will emerge victorious after the casket match at the Special.

 

"The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal vs. "Livewire" KTD ends in a no-contest. Royal controls most of the match and has KTD set up for the Royal Flush, but Randall Floyd runs in and they begin brawling.

Several officials and superstars run out to try and break them apart.

 

Gilbert Corsey brings out Ryan Howe and Justin Smooth. Gilbert says nothing has been settled after they both came back on the same night, wanting to be the #1 contender. Howe says Smooth needs to move on, he's the one that is ready to be champion. Smooth says he's not stepping anywhere, he wants to know what is going on with the #1 contender issue. Howe says Smooth needs to just step away. Gilbert says he knows someone who can help settle this, the new commissioner of OVW...Dean Hill! Dean says nothing has been settled, but he will settle it. At the Special, Dean Hill's law says they will face off in a last man standing match!

 

Cali comes out and says she was trained by the best in Matt Cappotelli, and even though the doctor told her she's not 100%, she will defend the Women's Title at SNS. Jaylee might have sprained her arm, but she's going to break hers!

 

DL3, Billy O, & Shiloh Jonze defeat Big Zo & "The Bro Godz": Dustin Jackson & Colton Cage. Dustin with the advantage early, hitting a picture perfect dropkick on Shiloh. A distraction allows Shiloh to take control. DL3, Shiloh, & Billy triple team Dustin in the corner. Billy hits a big body slam and then another. Dustin takes him down, but DL3 & Shiloh hit Colton & Zo to stop a tag. Things break down as all 6 men end up fighting on the outside. During the melee, Dustin gets clocked from behind, and Shiloh sneaks in to get the 3.

 

This ended the TV taping.
 

DARK MATCH: "The Empire State Goliath"Cardinal defeats Dimes. Dimes tries to use quickness, but Cardinal takes him down and slaps him. He headbutts him and misses a charge. He tries a cross body, but falls off Cardinal like he ran into a brick wall. Cardinal takes him down with an inverted suplex, but pulls him up at 2. He locks in a headlock and Dimes tries to fight out. Cardinal plows into him, but misses a charge in the corner again. Dimes dropkicks him and hits a back elbow. He goes up and gets on Cardinal's back, but Cardinal flips him around and drops him across his knees. He locks in the rear naked chokehold and Dimes passes out.

 

DARK MATCH: "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd & "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe defeat Christian Hernandez & "The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth. Howe takes it to Hernandez and tags in Floyd. Floyd has control for a bit, until Hernandez makes the tag to Smooth. Smooth works over Floyd's arm and Hernandez tags in and continues to work over it. Smooth tags back in and slams him. Howe breaks the pin and Floyd rolls Smooth up, but the ref was still trying to get Howe out of the ring. Floyd takes control and works over Smooth's arm. Floyd goes for a pin for 1. Smooth comes back and slams Floyd off his shoulders. Hernandez tags in and locks in a headlock. Floyd works his way to his corner and Howe tags in. Howe with a suplex for 2. Hernandez fires back, then Floyd has a modified Boston crab locked in that Smooth breaks up. Smooth & Howe brawl out of the ring and to the back. Floyd hits a cutter on Hernandez for the 3 and the win.
