The Most Unforgettable Las Vegas Nights

Las Vegas is home to the best nightlife in the world, with the biggest and best sporting events, world-class clubs and restaurants, and the most renowned casinos in the world. As such, the aim of every online casino is to replicate this experience. Because of Vegas, live casino has become more and more popular, with some people even looking to enjoy these games from the comfort of their living rooms. So, players looking to enjoy the thrills and spills of the casino and practice their strategies whilst chilling at home can enjoy casinos like 888poker online. However, there is nothing quite like hitting the strip to get a taste of the real Sin City nightlife.

A Knockout Night Out

Most people heading to Las Vegas do so with casinos and clubs in mind. After all, it is the most famous gambling city in the world, with 5-star casinos such as The Bellagio being the subject of many blockbusters. However, this is a place not just created with casino bettors in mind, but it is also excellent for sports bettors. Indeed, some of the biggest, best and most famous boxing bouts in the world have all taken place on the strip. Throughout the years, Vegas venues, such as the MGM Grand and Caesar’s Palace, have been the battling ground of legends such as ‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard, Evander Holyfield, Tyson Fury and many more. However, now it’s more than boxing. UFC and MMA are growing in popularity and Vegas offers fans the opportunity to watch top fights live in action. Now, Vegas is full of not only casino fans, but also fighting fans who want a slice of the action. Here, we will look at the best fighting events to have ever graced the world-famous Vegas boxing arenas.

Mike Tyson Vs Evander Holyfield II

No one can forget the big rematch between the two heavyweight boxers back in 1997 - dubbed both “The Sound of Fury” and “The Bite Fight”. This was the big rematch, eagerly awaited as the first match resulted in one of Tyson’s 2 losses - a very rare event. However, the rematch eclipsed it when Holyfield headbutted Tyson and Tyson reacted by biting off a piece of Holyfield’s ear and spitting it out. This goes down not only in boxing history but also sporting history and has put it at the top of our list, with the biggest names and the biggest scandal in the history of the sport.

McGregor Vs Mayweather

This fight was nicknamed “The Money Fight” and financially is one of the most lucrative of all time for the fighters, with each boxer making more than $75 million from the match up. What makes this a historical fight isn’t just the sums of money involved but also the reputation of Mayweather, one of the greatest boxers of all time. However, because his opponent, McGregor, is known as one of the best MMA fighters ever, this was always going to be a battle of the fighters - MMA v Boxing, who is the best. However, it turned out to be not just a win for Mayweather, but for the sport of boxing, as he outfought and outclassed his opponent when he won by TKO in the tenth round.

Sugar Ray Leonard Vs Thomas Hearns

Travelling back to 1981, the legend ‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard took on Thomas Hearns in a fight dubbed “The Showdown”. It took place at the legendary Caesar’s Palace and played out in front of a full arena. The fight was very even, although, in the fifth, things were looking doubtful for an injured Sugar Ray. All the way to the final rounds, Hearns pushed forward, with Leonard’s trainer telling him “You’re blowing it”. However, these words changed the course of the fight, with Leonard dealing a devastating combo to down Hearns and take the Championship.

Thomas Hearns Vs Marvin Hagler

Hearns returned to Caesar’s Palace in 1985, this time to take on the might of Marvin Hagler - in a fight they called “The War”. Both boxers went hell for leather, going all out for the knockout. Indeed, the first round of the fight has been named as one of the greatest in the history of boxing. However, the war was fierce and quick - and too much for Hearns to take for long. After three rounds of brutality, Hearns legs couldn’t take anymore and the ref couldn’t let the match continue. By the time he stopped the fight, Hagler celebrated victory over a barely conscious Hearns - all in under nine minutes.

Deontay Wilder Vs Tyson Fury II

A more recent legendary bout came about when Tyson Fury took on Deontay Wilder in a rematch last year at the MGM Grand Arena. The first match ended up, controversially, as a draw, but Tyson Fury claimed his right to a rematch to prove a point - he was the real winner. He quickly established himself as the stronger fighter and outclassed Wilder at every level. Fury knocked Wilder to the canvas in the third round, which was the first of three knockdowns. By round seven, Deontay Wilder’s corner had seen enough and decided it was time to throw in the towel.
