Global Syndicate Wrestling has announced Austin Aries will replace Joe Doering as Alexander Hammerstone’s opponent for the GSW World Championship at the company's debut show on February 20.
The show, titled GSW Inception, will take place at the Monster Factory in New Jersey. Doering is unable to compete due to the current travel restrictions in Canada.
Following today’s announcement, the updated card for the show is:
• Michael Elgin vs. Wrecking Ball Legursky
• Jake Crist vs. Richard Holliday
• Gabby Ortiz vs. Vicious Vicki
• Gio Galvano vs. Ricky Reyes vs. Smiley
• Deonna Purrazzo vs. Shaul Guerrero
• GSW World Championship: Alexander Hammerstone vs. Austin Aries
The new main event will be Aries' first match in over a year. Aries was last seen unsuccessfully challenging Teddy Hart for the MLW World Middleweight Championship at Major League Wrestling’s Saturday Night SuperFight pay-per-view on November 2, 2019.
The show will air on FITE TV and is available to purchase for $14.99 here.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite here. General admission tickets cost $25 while front row seats cost $35.
There will be limited seating due to the COVID-19 restrictions in New Jersey. All attendees will be administered to temperature checks and wearing a mask is compulsory.
Despite missing Inception, Doering said he still wants to face Hammerstone at a future date in a video posted on GSW’s Twitter account.
“I want to send one little message to Hammerstone: whether you win the championship or not, I want a match with you. You’re not off the hook yet,” he said.
