BELLATOR MMA CREATING OFFICIAL RANKINGS SYSTEM

By David Tees on 2/18/2021 11:51 AM

The UFC has a rankings system and now Bellator MMA is following suit with a rankings system of their own.

Bellator President Scott Coker, in an interview with the CBS Sports Network, announced that the promotion is adopting their own rankings system. The first set of rankings, which includes a men’s and women’s pound for pound, will be announced before Bellator 255 this April.

20 members of the MMA media will be voting on the rankings and all the votes are being tallied by MMA Registry. Any fighter who has competed once before under the Bellator banner within the last 15 months will be eligible to be ranked. Retired fighters will remain ranked up to six months after retiring and fighters can be ranked in multiple weight classes, as long as they competed in each weight class within a 15 month time span.
