FULL UFC FIGHT NIGHT 185 RESULTS

Welcome to PWInsiderXtra’s live coverage of UFC Fight Night 185, which is taking place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a heavyweight division battle as Curtis Blaydes faces Derrick Lewis, while Ketlen Vieira faces Yana Kunitskaya in the co-main event.

Serghei Spivac vs. Jared Vanderaa

Round One

The round begins with Vanderaa attacking Spivac with some leg kicks, Vanderaa backs up Spivac while swinging away at him. Spivac scores a takedown on Vanderaa and he gets back control, Vanderaa gets up and Spivac holds him against the cage wall. Spivac scores another takedown on Vanderaa and he gets the half guard, Spivac attacks Vanderaa with some ground and pound. Vanderaa gets Spivac in his full guard while eating more strikes. Spivac regains the half guard on Vanderaa while landing more strikes, Spivac keeps top control as the round ends. 

Round Two

The round begins with the fighters trading some jabs, Vanderaa goes for a head kick and Spivac gets him to the ground a short time later. Spivac gains the half guard while landing ground and pound on Vanderaa, Spivac continues attacking Vanderaa with ground and pound. Spivac gains back control while landing more ground and pound on Vanderaa, Spivac lands a plethora of unanswered strikes on Vanderaa and the referee jumps in.

Aiemann Zahabi vs. Drako Rodriguez

Round One

The round begins with Rodriguez taking a few swings at Zahabi, Rodriguez comes forward and he attacks Zahabi with some uppercuts. Rodriguez also starts attacking Zahabi with some leg kicks, Zahabi swings at Rodriguez and he eats a counter uppercut. Rodriguez continues backing up Zahabi while swinging away at him, Zahabi levels a swinging Rodriguez with a counter right hook and the referee jumps in.

(Note: A bout scheduled for the card between Chas Skelly and Jamall Emmers was canceled after Emmers suffered from severe back spasms just before walking out to the Octagon.)

Shana Dobson vs. Casey O’Neill

Round One

The round begins with O’Neill and Dobson having a brief striking exchange, O’Neill grabs Dobson and gets her against the cage wall. The fighters separate and swing away at each other, O’Neill grabs a swinging Dobson and gets her against the cage wall. O’Neill scores a takedown on Dobson and Dobson sweeps O’Neill to get top control, O’Neill scrambles to her feet to get the fight standing again. O’Neill and Dobson trade multiple strike combinations, O’Neill again gets Dobson up against the cage wall. Dobson mauls O’Neill with multiple knee strikes before getting taken down, O’Neill attacks Dobson with some ground and pound. O’Neill postures up and Dobson tries getting back to her feet, Dobson gets up while O’Neill lands a few strikes. O’Neill scores another takedown on Dobson and she gets the half guard, O’Neill attacks Dobson with some ground and pound. O’Neill advances to side control on Dobson, O’Neill goes for a heel hook on Dobson as the round ends. 

Round Two

The round begins with O’Neill kicking Dobson in the midsection, O’Neill scores a takedown on Dobson and she gets back control. O’Neill attacks Dobson with some ground and pound, O’Neill transitions to the full mount against Dobson. O’Neill attacks Dobson with a lot more ground and pound, O’Neill regains back control on Dobson while landing more strikes. O’Neill returns to the full mount while landing more unanswered strikes and the referee jumps in.

Nate Landwehr vs. Julian Erosa

Round One

The round begins with Landwehr attacking Erosa with some leg kicks, Erosa pops Landwehr with a multiple punch combination. Erosa then cracks Landwehr with a two punch combination, Erosa rocks a swinging Landwehr with another multiple punch combination. Erosa drills Landwehr with a flying knee strike and the referee jumps in.

Eddie Wineland vs. John Castaneda

Round One

The round begins with the fighters exchanging some leg kicks, Wineland goes for a head kick and Castaneda blocks it. Wineland looks to land counter strikes on a swinging Castaneda, Wineland continues charging at Castaneda while swinging away at him. Wineland continuously attacks Castaneda with a variety of rights, Castaneda starts throwing his own combinations against Wineland. Castaneda pops Wineland with a straight left to the chin, Castaneda starts landing counter lefts on a swinging Wineland. Wineland scores a takedown on a swinging Castaneda and he postures up until Castaneda gets up, Castaneda pops Wineland with a kick to the midsection. Castaneda backs up while rocking Wineland with a right hook, Castaneda drops Wineland with a combination and he pounces on him with more strikes until the referee jumps in.

Jared Gordon vs. Danny Chavez

Round One

The round begins with Chavez attacking Gordon with a high kick, Chavez and Gordon have a brief striking exchange. Chavez comes forward and he pops Gordon with a right, Chavez and Gordon exchange a few right hooks. Chavez cracks a swinging Gordon with a counter left hook, Gordon starts cracking Chavez with some leg kicks. Chavez accidentally nails Gordon low and the fight is halted, the action resumes with the fighters trading some kicks. Chavez goes for a spinning head kick and Gordon avoids it, Chavez starts landing some leg kicks on Gordon. Gordon backs Chavez into the cage wall as the fighters swing away at each other, Gordon eats a right before landing a counter right on Chavez. Gordon lands a few shots on Chavez as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Chavez attacking Gordon with some leg kicks, Chavez gets Gordon against the cage wall while looking for a takedown. The fighters separate and Gordon starts landing leg kicks on Chavez, Chavez cracks Gordon with a kick to the midsection. Chavez cracks a swinging Gordon with a few counter strikes, Gordon scores a takedown on Chavez and he gets the open guard. Gordon starts attacking Chavez with some ground and pound, Gordon gets the half guard as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Chavez attempting a head kick and Gordon avoids it, Chavez starts landing some leg kicks on Gordon. Gordon fires back and he lands some leg kicks of his own on Chavez, Chavez cracks Gordon with a right during an exchange. Gordon then cracks a swinging Chavez with a counter left hook, Chavez comes forward and Gordon hits him with a two punch combination. Chavez comes forward and he cracks Gordon with a right, Gordon scores a takedown on Chavez and he gets the full guard. Gordon attacks Chavez with some ground and pound, Chavez scrambles to his feet and Gordon looks for another takedown. Gordon grabs Chavez and he backs him into the cage wall, the fighters trade knee strikes as the round ends.

Andrei Arlovski vs. Tom Aspinall

Round One

The round begins with Aspinall attacking Arlovski with some leg kicks, Arlovski charges at Aspinall while swinging away at him. Aspinall looks for the counter strike on a swinging Arlovski, Aspinall rocks a swinging Arlovski with a counter right hook. Aspinall attacks a standing Arlovski with a plethora of unanswered strikes, the fighters clinch for a short time. Arlovski charges at Aspinall again while swinging wildly at him, Aspinall grabs Arlovski and gets him against the cage wall. The fighters trade some strikes while in the clinch, the fighters separate and Arlovski cracks Aspinall with a right hook as the round ends. 

Round Two

The round begins with Arlovski attacking Aspinall with a body kick, Arlovski and Aspinall exchange a few combinations. Arlovski charges forward and he pops Aspinall with a right hook, Aspinall scores a takedown on Arlovski and he quickly gets back control. Aspinall locks in a rear naked choke on Arlovski and a tap out follows.

Phil Hawes vs. Nassourdine Imavov

Round One

The round begins with Hawes attacking Imavov with some leg kicks, Hawes attacks Imavov with a multiple punch combination. Imavov takes some swings at Hawes to keep him at a distance, Hawes grabs Imavov and gets him up against the cage wall. The fighters trade some strikes while in the clinch, Hawes scores a takedown on Imavov and Imavov gets right back up. Hawes scores another takedown on Imavov and he gets side control, Hawes moves into the half guard of Imavov. Hawes lands some ground and pound as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Imavov attacking Hawes with some jabs, Hawes grabs Imavov and he gets him up against the cage wall. The fighters trade a few shots while in the clinch, the fighters separate and Imavov nails Hawes with a few combinations. Hawes scores a takedown on a swinging Imavov and he gets him in a seated position, Imavov gets up and Hawes keeps him against the cage wall. Imavov drops for a kimura and Hawes defends to get top control on the ground, Hawes attacks Imavov with some ground and pound as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Hawes attacking Imavov with some leg kicks, Hawes scores a takedown on Imavov and Imavov gets back up. Hawes grabs Imavov and gets him up against the cage wall, the fighters separate and take some swings at each other. Imavov goes for a spinning back fist and Hawes avoids it, Hawes grabs Imavov and gets him back up against the cage wall. Imavov cracks Hawes with a few elbow strikes before separating, Imavov rocks Hawes while swinging wildly at him. Hawes grabs Imavov again and gets him back against the cage wall, Imavov lands more elbow strikes while in the clinch. Imavov rocks Hawes with a knee strike to the midsection, Hawes eats a right before clinching with Imavov as the round ends.

#10 Aleksei Oleinik vs. Chris Daukaus

Round One

The round begins with the fighters swinging away at each other, Daukaus grabs Oleinik and he gets him up against the cage wall. Oleinik looks to pull guard and Daukaus defends while landing strikes, Daukaus stuns Oleinik after landing a straight right. Daukaus cracks a swinging Oleinik with a counter right, Daukaus rocks Oleinik with a knee strike before landing a bunch of unanswered strikes until the referee jumps in.

Charles Rosa vs. Darrick Minner

Round One

The round begins with Minner attacking Rosa with some leg kicks, Minner looks for a standing guillotine choke and Rosa defends against it. Rosa starts landing some leg kicks against Minner, Minner and Rosa get into some wild striking exchanges. Minner lands a few counter strikes on a swinging Rosa, Minner scores a takedown on Rosa and Rosa gets back up. Minner drags Rosa back to the ground and he gets the half guard, Rosa gets Minner in his full guard while eating a few strikes. Rosa scrambles and Minner attacks him with a few strikes, Minner transitions to back control and then full mount on Rosa. Minner catches Rosa in an arm triangle choke and Rosa defends against it, Rosa rolls for a leg of Minner’s and Minner defends as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Minner nailing a swinging Rosa with a counter left hook, Minner drops Rosa with a right and he gets back control on the ground. Minner catches a scrambling Rosa in an arm triangle choke and Rosa defends against it, Minner gains the full mount on Rosa. Rosa scrambles as Minner postures up and Minner maintains top control, Rosa rolls for an arm bar and Minner defends against it. Rosa continues rolling for submissions while getting Minner in his full guard, Minner transitions to the full mount against Rosa before moving to the half guard. Rosa gets up as Minner jumps onto his back, Rosa falls back to the ground and Minner maintains back control. Minner returns to the full mount on Rosa and he goes for the arm triangle choke, Rosa defends against the choke before going for an arm bar on Minner. Minner returns to back control against Rosa while landing a few strikes, Rosa catches Minner in an arm bar as the round ends. 

Round Three

The round begins with Minner attacking Rosa with some leg kicks, Minner lands a multiple strike combo on Rosa before getting him to the ground. Minner attacks Rosa with a lot of ground and pound, Rosa scrambles to his feet and Minner drags him back to the ground while getting the full mount. Rosa eventually gets Minner into his full guard before Minner gains side control on him, Rosa rolls for an arm bar and Minner defends against it. Rosa then rolls for an omaplata and Minner defends against it, Rosa continues to try and roll for more submissions on Minner. Minner transitions to the back control position on Rosa, Rosa lands a few shots on a scrambling Minner as the round ends.

#6 Ketlen Vieira vs. #7 Yana Kunitskaya

Round One

The round begins with Vieira taking a few swings at Kunitskaya, Vieira grabs Kunitskaya and she gets her up against the cage wall. The fighters trade some strikes while in the clinch, Vieira drags Kunitskaya to the ground and she gets her in a seated position. Kunitskaya gets back to her feet and Vieira holds her against the cage wall, Kunitskaya attacks Vieira with knee strikes to the midsection. Vieira scores another takedown on Kunitskaya and she gets the half guard, Vieira gains the full mount on Kunitskaya before returning to the half guard. Vieira maintains top control as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Vieira and Kunitskaya swinging away at each other, Kunitskaya backs Vieira into the cage wall while they exchange some knee strikes. Kunitskaya scores a takedown on Vieira and she gets the full guard, Kunitskaya attacks Vieira with some ground and pound. Vieira tries rolling for submission on Kunitskaya while on her back, Vieira scrambles to her feet and Kunitskaya gets her back up against the cage wall. Kunitskaya eats a few strikes while getting Vieira back in her half guard, Vieira manages to get back control on Kunitskaya. Kunitskaya attacks Vieira with a few strikes while Vieira has back control, Vieira rolls for an arm bar and Kunitskaya defends to get top control. Kunitskaya attacks Vieira with ground and pound as the round ends.

#2 Curtis Blaydes vs. #4 Derrick Lewis

Round One

The round begins with Blaydes attacking Lewis with some leg kicks, Blaydes looks for a takedown and Lewis defends while landing a few strikes. Blaydes and Lewis get into a few striking exchanges, Blaydes stays at a distance while taking some swings at Lewis. Blaydes pops a swinging Lewis with a counter right. Blaydes goes back to attacking Lewis with some leg kicks, Blaydes cracks a swinging Lewis with a multiple strike combination. Blaydes rocks Lewis with some elbow strikes and knee strikes, Blaydes pops Lewis with some lefts. Blaydes accidentally pokes Lewis in the eye and the fight is halted, the fight resumes with the fighters posturing until the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Blaydes attacking a swinging Lewis with a combination, Blaydes goes for a takedown and Lewis defends. Blaydes goes for a takedown and Lewis destroys him with a right uppercut and Blaydes goes out cold.
