Former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier and former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor have met twice before under the UFC banner, with McGregor winning at UFC 178 and Poirier winning at UFC 257.
UFC President Dana White believes that a rubber match between McGregor and Poirier could happen as soon as this Summer.
“Conor’s ready to roll,” White said on The Jim Rome Show (via MMA Junkie). “Conor wants to fight again. He wants the rematch with Dustin Poirier, and he wants it as soon as possible. We’re working on it. Hopefully this summer”
McGregor has won just one fight in the last four plus years, which came over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January of 2020. Poirier would enter the potential third fight with McGregor riding a two fight winning streak, with the other victory coming over Dan Hooker.
