Retired MMA fighter Dan Hardy is no longer “directly working” with the UFC after an issue during the promotions last trip to Fight Island.
A report recently surfaced from the Wrestling Observer stating that Hardy was let go by both the UFC and BT Sport after a “disagreement” with a female employee.
BJPenn.com would put their version of the story out on Twitter, which Hardy would reply to and shed some more light on what went down:
Rather misleading headline there, @bjpenndotcom. Not entirely accurate either.

I am no longer working directly with the UFC. The ‘female’ part is irrelevant. It was a disagreement over an opportunity missed, or withheld, and I’d love some answers but can’t get any. https://t.co/OWN3huP8Pe
There was some talk that the “female employee” was Laura Sanko, who handles various duties on UFC broadcasts, but Sanko also took to Twitter to dismiss those rumors:
(1/2) Lots of people guessing or somehow assuming that the female referred to in reference @danhardymma is me. It is NOT. I have never had anything but wonderful and professional interactions with Dan.

Hardy is still under contract with the UFC as a fighter, but he hasn’t competed since defeating Amir Sadollah by unanimous decision at UFC On Fuel TV 5 in September of 2012.
