REPORT: ROMAN DOLIDZE REPLACES DRICUS DU PLESSIS AT UFC FIGHT NIGHT 188

By David Tees on 3/10/2021 5:46 PM

Visa issues have caused Dricus Du Plessis to be removed from UFC Fight Night 188 according to Sherdog, replacing him against Trevin Giles is Roman Dolidze.

Giles (13-2-0) enters the contest riding a two fight winning streak, picking up wins over the duo of Bevon Lewis and James Krause. Giles hasn’t been defeated in over a year, with that last loss coming to Gerald Meerschaert at UFC On ESPN 5 in August of 2019. Giles has suffered two losses as a pro MMA fighter and both of them came by way of submission.

Dolidze (8-0-0) has already earned two wins in the UFC, with those coming over Khadis Ibragimov and John Allan. Dolidze primarily competed in the World Warriors Fighting Championship promotion, where he defeated One Championship veteran Michal Pasternak. Dolidze has competed eight times as a pro MMA fighter and just one of those bouts went the distance.

UFC Fight Night 188 takes place on Saturday, March 20 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Derek Brunson and Kevin Holland headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
