A heavyweight division attraction has been added to the May 22 UFC card according to Mike Heck of MMA Fighting as Justin Tafa faces Jared Vanderaa.
Tafa (4-2-0) has won just one of three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Juan Adams at UFC 247. Tafa went three for three when competing in the XFC promotion and all of those wins came by KO/TKO. Tafa has competed a total of six times as a pro MMA fighter and just one of those bouts went the distance.
Vanderaa (11-5-0) is winless thus far in UFC competition, dropping a bout to Sergey Spivak at UFC Fight Night 185. Vaneraa competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 4, Episode 8, defeating Harry Hunsucker by first round TKO. Vanderaa is a former Smash Global Heavyweight Champion, defeating Tony Lopez to win the title in December of 2019.
UFC Fight Night takes place on Saturday, May 22 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
