MATHEUS NICOLAU SAYS DANIEL CORMIER WAS “ROOTING FOR” MANEL KAPE AT UFC FIGHT NIGHT 187

Matheus Nicolau scored a split decision victory over Manel Kape this past weekend at UFC Fight Night 187.

A victorious Nicolau has since rewatched the fight multiple times and he believes former two division UFC champion Daniel Cormier, who was doing commentary for the event, was rooting for Kape during the bout.

“‘DC’ is from his team, and it seemed cleared to me that he was kind of in his favor, rooting for him,” Nicolau said to MMA Fighting. “Man, I beat him for four minutes, they said that during the commentary, ‘Matheus is landing, he came better in round three,’ and then, with a minute left, they start saying the fight is wide open. It makes no sense based on their own commentary, I think it was a little contradictory.”

One judge saw the bout in Kape’s favor as well, as the scorecards read 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 for the fight.

Nicolau also challenges all those who scored the fight against him to rewatch the third round of the bout.

“I invite any person, journalist, specialist, hater, whatever, to watch the third round with me and score it again,” Nicolau said. “Because I’m sure the victory was mine.”
