AMANDA NUNES SAYS THE UFC WOMEN’S FEATHERWEIGHT DIVISION WILL LIVE ON

By David Tees on 3/16/2021 3:35 PM

Two division UFC champion Amanda Nunes successfully defended the women’s featherweight title against Megan Anderson at UFC 259.

There was some talk that the division could be scrapped by the UFC, but Nunes says that the division will live on.

“They did not cut the division,” Nunes told Amy Kaplan of Fan Sided. “Dana [White] and I have a great relationship, as long as I want to defend it he will find me opponents.”

Nunes is one of three women to hold the UFC Women’s Featherweight Title, with Germaine De Randamie and Cyborg being the other two.

The champion could be defending the women’s bantamweight title next against Julianna Pena and Nunes sees herself defeating Pena if they do meet in the Octagon.

“I see myself having my hand raised and retaining my belt,” she said. “I will be working with a nutritionist and taking care of my body properly to have it working the way it needs to be.”
