Khabib Nurmagomedov has officially retired from professional MMA competition and has subsequently been stripped of the UFC Lightweight Title. ESPN is now reporting that #3 Charles Oliveira and #4 Michael Chandler will now battle for the vacant strap in the main event of UFC 262.

Oliveira (30-8-0-1NC) enters the contest riding an eight fight winning streak, with notable victories coming over Clay Guida, Jim Miller, Nik Lentz, Jared Gordon, Kevin Lee and Tony Ferguson. Oliveira hasn’t been defeated in over three years, with that last loss coming to Paul Felder at UFC 218. Oliveira has earned 30 wins as a pro MMA fighter and 18 of them have come by way of submission.

Chandler (22-5-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, having defeated Dan Hooker by first round TKO at UFC 257. Chandler is a former multi-time Bellator Lightweight Champion and could become one of a short list of fighters to hold a title in both promotions. Chandler has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter, but he has yet to be beaten by way of submission.

UFC 262 takes place on Saturday, May 15 from a location to be announced with Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
