FORMER UFC DOUBLE CHAMP AND OLYMPIC WRESTLER DANIEL CORMIER JOINS W2W
Daniel Cormier Wrestling Academy to Host W2W Season This Fall
Former UFC Heavyweight/ Light Heavyweight Champion and Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier (DC) has joined forces with Wimp2Warrior (W2W); the multi-year partnership was announced today by W2W VP, North America, Rich Chou. With the new partnership, Cormier’s newly minted Daniel Cormier Wrestling Academy in Gilroy, CA will become a location for multiple in-person series for the W2W program, with the first season set to start later this year.
Cormier’s addition to W2W is the latest high profile move by Rich Chou since he since he took over the company’s North American operation earlier this year. Chou also signed esteemed MMA broadcaster Laura Sanko as a brand ambassador earlier this summer. Chou’s surge coincides with W2W’s success away from the mats where the company recently announced a $7.5-Million Capital Raise spearheaded by News Corp’s Scaleup Media Fund, Mark Bouris, Sandbar Investments, Altor Capital, Shaw & Partners, and Lucerne Investment Partners.
Chou’s reputation with the MMA community and long standing relationships helped attract Cormier to W2W’s 360-vision. In addition to being the owner of the latest MMA academy to sign on to W2W, Cormier will also serve as a global brand ambassador for the program, and work in concert with SBG Ireland and W2W co-founder John Kavanagh on advanced development of the 20-week in person curriculum that W2W employs.
Additionally, Cormier will leverage his expansive relationships with professional fighters, coaches and gym owners to further educate them on W2W’s full suite of services. By hosting numerous series at his academy, DC will be able to give first-hand accounts of how the program is an additive resource in building census and financial growth that MMA gyms have perennially searched for.
Chou said, “DC has a true love of the sport and his knowledge and understanding of MMA is second to none. Whether it be his accomplishments in the octagon, his broadcast work, or his dedication as a coach developing young athletes, he has solidified his standing as one of MMA’s most visible global ambassadors. As W2W continues to accelerate our growth, being able to have a 360 partnership with DC further validates our commitment to growing the sport by converting fandom to participation worldwide”.
“Look, anyone who knows me knows how invested I am in teaching,” said Cormier. “It’s why I coach wresting at Gilroy HS, why I opened up my academy and why I am partnering with W2W. This program represents everything that is good about martial arts and gives me a chance to give back by being an entry point to men and women who can’t shake that burning question of ‘can I do that?’”
Over 10,000 people from 90+ gyms worldwide have completed W2W’s “Warrior Training Program”, adding millions of dollars in revenue for their partners in recent years. The company is aggressively expanding their existing presence in North America, where they have previously partnered with Montreal’s Tristar (Firas Zihabi), Long Island’s LAW MMA (Chris Weidman, Ray Longo), San Francisco’s El Nino Training Center (Gilbert Melendez), San Jose’s AKA Training Center (Javier Mendez), Las Vegas Xtreme Couture (Randy & Ryan Couture), Dublin California’s Combat Sports Academy (Kirian Fitzgibbon) SBG Portland (Matt Thornton) and more.
