FIGHTERS ONLY NOMINATES IMMAF CEO DENSIGN WHITE FOR WORLD MMA AWARD


[London. 13 August 2021] International Mixed Martial Arts Federation CEO, Densign White, has been nominated for the second year running for the Leading Man Award in the Fighters Only World MMA Awards.

Densign White said: "I am proud to be nominated for this prestigious award and of the recognition and awareness that this brings to world amateur MMA.”

IMMAF’s Director of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Goddard, has also been nominated again for Referee of the Year.

MMAF President Kerrith Brown commented: "On behalf of the IMMAF board, I would like to congratulate both Densign and Marc on their nominations, which fairly reflect their pioneering work in the develop of amateur and grassroots MMA, as representatives of IMMAF.”

Densign White is a three-times Olympian with a Commonwealth Games gold medal in judo and over two decades as a sports executive. Formerly Chairman of the British Judo Association, Head Sports Director for the European Judo Union and executive member of the British Olympic Association, White took the helm of the IMMAF administration in 2014.

Under Densign’s leadership the world MMA governing body has expanded to 120 member nations with almost 50% now recognised by their National Olympic Committee or Sports Ministry; grown its global competition calendar to 9 core tournaments per year; commenced and maintained a WADA compliant, drug testing programme; and created talent development pathways for MMA coaches and participants, launching the first World Youth MMA Championships for 12 – 17 year olds in 2019. Under White’s administrative charge, the IMMAF continues to strive for official sport recognition of MMA to obtain the same rights and benefits for participants as those of other sports. 

The IMMAF CEO also stands on the Council of the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) and is Chairman for Sporting Equals, which works to promote ethnic diversity in UK sport.

Most renowned for his on-screen work with UFC and other world-class MMA promoters, Marc has played a pioneering role in the technical development of amateur MMA and officials’ education with IMMAF since 2012. Significant achievements in the past year have included training and leading a team of officials for the second Youth MMA World Championships, and spearheading the development of an IMMAF MMA Ring that sets a new benchmark in athlete safety and sets the global standard for IMMAF rules competitions.
