Full Impact Pro Big Year One Bash Night Two DVD Review

by Richard Trionfo

Full Impact Pro finished celebrating its first anniversary weekend with its return to Bushnell , Florida .  At the last Bushnell show, CM Punk wrestled his final match for the company and was defeated by Roderick Strong.  On the first night of the one year celebration, James Gibson and Spanky made their final appearances in FIP.  This show marks the first show where the Heartbreak Express was the FIP tag team champions.  With a successful title defense against Jimmy Rave, Homicide would hold the FIP title for an entire year.  Here are the results.

Commentary is provided by Dave Prazak and Mister Saint Laurent .

Lenny Leonard welcomes everyone to the one year celebration for FIP.

Dave Prazak comes out with Jay Lethal and Mr. Milo Beasley.  Dave gets on the mic and he talks about the newest addition to DP Associates, Jay Lethal.  He says that it is night two of BYOB, ‘Bring Your Own Belts’ and he tells Homicide to bring his belt because DP Associates will add that belt to their stable.  Jay and Dave walk off the stage to the ring, but Mr. Beasley cannot get down in his wheelchair so he watches from the stage.  Dave comments on his shock that the building is not handicap accessible.

Match Number One:  Jay Lethal defeats Chasyn Rance

Lethal goes outside the ring early to stop Rance from gaining any momentum.  Rance is able to take advantage of Lethal’s overaggressive style as he controls the early part of the match.  Lethal takes control of the match, but he is unable to put away Rance but he is able to get a number of near falls.  Rance is able to hit an enzuigiri to regain control of the match.  Rance goes up top but Prazak distracts the referee and Mr. Beasley miraculously gets up from his wheelchair and he crotches Rance on the top turnbuckle.  Lethal hits a Dragon suplex for the victory.

The new FIP Tag Team Champions, the Heartbreak Express come out to address the crowd.  Sean takes the mic and he tells all of the naysayers and doubters who did not believe that they were the greatest tag team in wrestling.  This proves one thing, everyone else was wrong and they were right.  Sean says that they had a huge celebration last night with all of the beautiful women of Tampa Bay .  There is one guy who is not happy and that person is Sal Rinauro.  Not only did they take his tag team title, but they took his tag team partner’s girlfriend, but they sent his tag team partner Spanky packing out of FIP and to the bush leagues in Stamford , Connecticut .

Sal Rinauro comes out and he takes the microphone.  He tells the Heartbreak Express to check their facts because the last time that he was in Bushnell, he won the tag titles with Spanky.  Last night, the Heartbreak Express screwed him and Spanky, but not in the way that the Heartbreak Express usually likes it.  Sal says there will be no more games.  He wants the Heartbreak Express to put the titles on the line.

Sean says that they would like to give Sal what he wants, but he does not have a tag team partner.  Sal goes to the back and Sean calls him a chicken.  Sal comes back with Seth Delay and they go to the ring.  He tells Sal that he might have found a tag team partner, but it will not be that easy.  Since it was a long, hard road for them to win the tag team titles, they will not put the titles on the line against anyone.  They will have to run the gauntlet.  The winner of the gauntlet will get the title match.

Match Number Two:  Sal Rinauro and Seth Delay defeat Bruce Steel and LaDuke Jakes

Steele and Jakes use their size advantage early in the match on Delay and Rinauro.  While Steele works over Delay in the ring, Jakes works on Rinauro on the floor.  Rinauro sends Jakes into the ring post while Steele holds Delay after catching Delay on a cross body attempt from the second turnbuckle, but he waits too long and that allows Rinauro to hit a missile drop kick that allows Delay to get the three count.

Sean says that there is another tag team signed up for the gauntlet.  Because they don’t like this team either, Sean hopes that they will beat each other up so neither will be around.

Match Number Three:  Jay Fury and Jerrelle Clark defeat Sal Rinauro and Seth Delay

The match starts off with both teams trying to feel each other out and it is even for the first few minutes.  Fury and Clark take control of the match and use their experience relative to Rinauro and Delay to wear down Rinauro.  Rinauro is able to tag in Delay and he is able to take control of the match.  Rinauro catches Delay on a suplex attempt and that allows Rinauro and Delay to double team Clark.  Clark goes outside the ring and Rinauro tries for a pescado but Clark moves out of the way.  Fury holds Delay while Clark hits the 450 splash for the three count.

Sean Davis comments on how their chance to win the tag titles just went away and that it will not happen tonight.  Sean says that it is time to get rid of Jerrelle Clark and Jay Fury and he has the team of Erick Stevens and Steve Madison to do the job.

Match Number Four:  Jay Fury and Jerrelle Clark defeat Erick Stevens and Steve Madison

Stevens and Madison take advantage of their tired opponents   Stevens and Madison draw Clark into the ring to get the referee distracted and that allows them to double team Fury.  Stevens and Madison make rapid tags to wear down Fury.  Clark tags in and he appears to have control but he tries for a handspring moonsault on Stevens, but Erick gets his knees up.  Madison hits the Ace Crusher, but he misses the Axe Bomber.  Clark hits a Pele kick on Madison .  Fury with the Jaytrix and enzuigiri on Stevens and Clark gets the three count.

Jaison Moore and Evan Starsmore come out as the next participants in the gauntlet as Sean tries to figure out who they are.

Match Number Five:  Evan Starsmore and Jaison Moore defeat Jerrelle Clark and Jay Fury

Moore and Starsmore take advantage of the fact that Clark and Fury have wrestled three matches already but Fury hits the Jaytrix and enzuigiri on Starsmore while Clark hits the Jerrelle Driver on Moore .  The Heartbreak Express come to ringside to talk the referee and that allows Erick Stevens and Steve Madison to attack Clark and Fury.  Madison with a piledriver to Fury while Stevens hits the Sarasota Screwdriver on Clark before the referee figures out what happened.  Stevens rolls Starsmore on top of Fury and Madison rolls Moore on top of Clark for the three count.

Jerrelle Clark gets on the mic and he says that if Madison and Stevens want to start a war, they have one.  It is far from over.  Jerrelle wants to face Stevens and Madison the next time they are in Bushnell.

Azriael comes out and Lenny Leonard asks him about the changes that he has dealt with in FIP as a former member of the New Dawn.  Azriael says that he was cheated out of his victory last time in Bushnell at the hands of DP Associates.  He makes an open challenge to anyone in DP Associates.

Dave Prazak and Mr. Milo Beasley come out and Mr. Beasley is in wrestling gear.  He says that he is ready to wrestle.  Mr. Beasley says that he has been training, but Dave stops Mr. Beasley from getting in the ring.  Dave tells Azriael if he can get past his hired gun, then next time in Bushnell, he can face a member of DP Associates.  Dave brings out Nigel McGuinness.

Nigel gets on the mic and he wants to make something perfectly clear.  There are three reasons why he took on this match because the last place he wants to be on a Saturday night is a sweat filled box with a bunch of pigs in Florida .  He says that he shouldn’t even be in America .  He says that he should be back at home in England having a cup of tea and eating bangers and mash.  First, he is being paid.  Second, Mr. Prazak is not really American, he is from Czechoslovakia .  Third, because it gives him the chance to prove again that the best wrestlers come from England and that the USA sucks.

Dave pushes Mr. Beasley to the ringside area so he can watch, but instead he pushes Mr. Beasley off the stage to the floor.

Match Number Six:  Azriael defeats Nigel McGuinness

The larger McGuinness uses his size advantage early in the match and he works on Azriael’s arm.  Azriael tries to use his speed advantage on McGuinness but Nigel gets out of the ring to stop any momentum Azriael might have gained.  McGuinness continues to dominate Azriael and he uses the ropes to choke Azriael.  Azriael gets a near fall, but McGuinness responds with a vicious clothesline.  McGuinness tries to use the ropes on a cover but Azrieal is able to kick out at two.  Azrieal hits a double stomp on the back of McGuinness’s neck and then he gets the three count.

After the match, Prazak wants to know what happened with McGuinness and he says that would never have happened in England .

Azriael gets on the mic and he tells Dave Prazak that he proved himself by taking out Prazak’s hired assassin.  He says that he wants a match against a member of DP Associates next month.

Before the next match, Rainman gets on the mic and he says everyone asks him why he turned on Antonio Banks and he tells everyone that he will tell them when he feels like it.  He still does not feel like telling anyone.  He is concentrating on taking Antonio Banks out.  He tells Banks to come out and do something if he does not like it.

Antonio Banks comes out and he says that Rainman does not have to explain it to him.  That is because Rainman said everything he needed to say when Rainman turned on him in Crystal River .  Antonio does not give a damn why Rainman turned on him.  The only thing people care about is him taking care of Rainman.

Match Number Seven:  Rainman defeats Antonio Banks in a No Disqualification Match

The match starts off outside the ring with both men exchanging punches.  Both men fight into the bleachers with Banks taking control.  Rainman takes the advantage as the battle moves to the other side of the building.  Banks regains the advantage and he works on Rainman’s back.  They finally make it into the ring but Rainman goes outside the ring to get a chair and he wedges it in the turnbuckles.  Rainman tries to send Banks into the chair in the turnbuckle but Banks counters with a clothesline.  Banks with an enzuigiri that sends Rainman out of the ring.  As the action returns outside the ring, Rainman has the advantage but Banks fights back using a water bottle.  The action moves to the stage and Banks with a slam and elbow but he only gets a two count.  They return to the ring and Rainman goes up top and he hits a frog splash but he can only get a two count.  Banks crotches Rainman on the top turnbuckle with a drop kick.  Rainman suffocates Banks with a plastic bag but Banks does not pass out.  Rainman drills Banks with the chair twice and Rainman gets the three count.

Match Number Eight:  Kahagas defeats Benny Blanco

Kahagas gets the early advantage against Blanco after hitting an exploder suplex.  Blanco tries to fight back but he delays too much and that allows Kahagas to hit a Northern Lights suplex.  Kahagas appears to have the match under control but Blanco with a kick to the back of the leg followed by a standing moonsault for a two count.  Kahagas gets the three count with a Michinoku Driver.

Match Number Nine:  The Heartbreak Express defeat Evan Starsmore and Jaison Moore to retain the FIP Tag Team Titles

The champions attack the challengers before the bell rings but Moore and Starsmore fight back and get the early advantage.  That advantage is short lived as Sean and Phil work over Starsmore.  Sean and Phil hit a double slingshot belly-to-back suplex on Starsmore for the three count.

After the match, Sean and Phil attack Moore and Starsmore, but Sal Rinauro comes out with a 2x4 to get the Heartbreak Express to leave the ring.

Match Number Ten:  Roderick Strong defeats Tony Mamaluke in a Two-out-of-Three Falls Match two falls to one

Strong and Mamaluke feel each other out at the start of the match with Strong focusing on Mamaluke’s arm.  Mamaluke works on Strong’s back in the opening minutes of the match.  Strong then moves to Mamaluke’s legs but Mamaluke also works on Strong’s legs.  Mamaluke works on Strong’s arm, but Roderick is able to pick up Mamaluke and he power bombs Mamaluke to the mat.  Mamaluke returns to Strong’s arm and wear down that extremity.  Strong gets Mamaluke in the ropes and he punches Mamaluke while Tony bounces back and forth in the ropes.  Strong gets the first fall with a rollup and bridge after a series of near falls.

Mamaluke almost ties up the match when Strong pays too much attention to the crowd but Mamaluke can only get a two count with a rollup.  Strong uses that lapse to attack Mamaluke, but Mamaluke fights back.  Both men turn to the legs as they try to finish off their opponent.  Mamaluke blocks a suplex and he puts Strong in a Fujiwara arm bar and Strong taps to make it one fall apiece.

The third fall begins with both men fighting outside the ring and Strong regains control of the match.  Both men exchange submission holds with both men applying the camel clutch.  Strong hits a back breaker from a torture rack position and then he wears down Mamaluke with a series of punches and forearms.  Strong is knocked off the top turnbuckle and Mamaluke hits a frog splash, but he cannot capitalize on the move because of fatigue from the match.  Strong hits a back breaker for a near fall.  Mamaluke tries to counter a suplex into the Fujiwara arm bar one more time, but Strong avoids it and he hits a gutbuster from a fireman’s carry followed by another back breaker.  However, Strong is not able to put Mamaluke away.  Strong goes outside the ring and Mamaluke hits a baseball slide which is caught by Strong but Mamaluke counters with a DDT.  Mamaluke with a near fall after a series of suplexes.  Both men battle onto the turnbuckles but Strong hits a gutbuster from the second turnbuckle and Mamaluke rolls out of the ring.  Mamaluke tries for a choke but Strong counters with a Boston Crab and Mamaluke taps.

Before the main event, Dave Prazak tells Homicide that his one year title reign ends tonight because Jimmy Rave will be the next FIP champion.

Match Number Eleven:  Homicide defeats Jimmy Rave (with Dave Prazak and Mr. Milo Beasley) to retain the FIP Title

Homicide gets the early advantage but Rave claims that Homicide pulled his hair.  Rave chops Homicide, but Homicide returns the favor and Rave returns to the safety of the floor to talk to Prazak and Mr. Beasley.  Homicide waits on the turnbuckle for Rave to return to the ring.  Rave gets to the ropes but Homicide kicks it and Rave feels it in his lower abdomen.  Rave is sent over the top turnbuckle and Homicide hits a baseball slide.  Prazak distracts the referee and Homicide and that allows Rave to kick Homicide low and get the advantage.  Rave tries to wear down the champion but Homicide continues to fight back.  Rave and Homicide fight on the floor and near the crowd but they return to the ring where Rave continues to control the match.  Rave tries for a superplex but Homicide pushes Rave off the turnbuckles and Homicide hits a diving head butt for a two count.  Homicide tries for an Ace Cutter from the turnbuckles but Rave pushes Homicide off.  Homicide fights off Prazak and Rave and he hits the lariat for the three count.

After the match, Lenny Leonard goes to the ring to interview Homicide about being champion for a full year.  Lenny runs through the list of people that Homicide has defeated over the year.  Jay Lethal comes into the ring and Homicide takes care of him.  Mr. Milo Beasley miraculously gets into the ring but he is stopped with a Cop Killer.  Rainman comes out and he hits a sit out power bomb.

Rainman takes the mic and he says that wants a title match.  We go to credits.

Big Year One Bash Night Two Thoughts:

The DVD runs approximately two and a half hours.

This was the first time that FIP ran a show in this building in Bushnell.  The building is set up well for wrestling because of the stage and the bleachers inside.  It allows for the wrestlers to have a lot of room around the ring to do things because no chairs were set up.  From the hard camera set up, the building looked good and you could see everything.

The Strong/Mamaluke match lasted around thirty minutes and was the second night in a row that Roderick Strong had wrestled a half hour.

This was the second FIP show with Mister Saint Laurent on commentary and he did a better job.  He has good chemistry with Dave Prazak and they work well off each other.
