In mixed martial arts, being dubbed great is equivalent to having your talents certified. However, to be listed among the best of the best is to enter the elite company of warriors, who critics and admirers will all permanently look up to. Throughout the history of the sport, there have been many outstanding MMA competitors. But just a few of them have done enough to be ranked among the greatest.

Compared to other sports, mixed martial arts has only been around a short while, yet it has already produced some incredible fighters. Here are some of the greatest in human history.

Fedor Emelianenko

Fedor Emelianenko, unlike the bulk of other MMA fighters, never competed in the UFC. However, that does not change the fact that he is a complete fighter and has one of the longest unbeaten runs at 28 victories straight. Many people refer to him as the greatest heavyweight fighter ever.

He has achieved several very noteworthy victories in the sport over many top competitors. His career ended with a record of 47 total fights, 40 victories, 6 defeats, and 1 no-contest. He has a strong record to support the argument that he is the greatest fighter of all time.

Along with holding the record for the most victories in title fights and the second-longest cumulative title streak in UFC history, he was also ranked as the best welterweight in the world for several years before retiring in 2013. With 28 fights, which included 26 victories and 2 losses, he finished his incredible career.

Khabib Nurmagomedov 

With his outstanding grappling, Khabib Nurmagomedov, the longest-reigning lightweight division champion in UFC history, won several battles and established himself as one of the sport's greatest competitors. He not only dominates his opponents to win every battle, but he also does so consistently.

Khabib's stellar career is evidenced by his flawless record of 29 victories in 29 fights overall at the time of his retirement. He has defeated some of the sport's most powerful competitors, including Conor McGregor.
