Andre Fili was scheduled to fight Lucas Almeida at UFC Vegas 70 on Saturday, February 25, but that bout won’t be happening now.
Fili recently revealed on social media (via Bloody Elbow) that he was forced to undergo emergency eye surgery and will not be able to compete at UFC Vegas 70.
“Started losing vision in my right eye. Had emergency surgery and got it fixed. I’m very grateful. Love you all. Thanks for checking in on me. I’m sorry I can’t put on a show for you guys Feb 25th, but I will be fighting later this year and I will be World Champion. They can never break us. O & U.”
There is no timeframe set yet for Fili’s Octagon return, as the competitor last fought at UFC Fight Night 210 in September of 2022, defeating Bill Algeo by unanimous decision. There is also no word yet on if Fili’s opponent, Lucas Almeida, will remain on the UFC Vegas 70 card, as the promotion has just over two weeks to find a replacement opponent.
