A flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Kansas City according to Marcel Dorff as #4 Brandon Royval faces #5 Matheus Nicolau.
Royval (14-6-0) enters the contest riding a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Rogerio Bontorin and Matt Schnell. Royval hasn’t been defeated in over a year, with his last loss coming to Alexandre Pantoja at UFC On ESPN 29 in August of 2021. Royval has earned 14 wins as a professional MMA fighter and nine of those came by way of submission.
Nicolau (19-2-1) is undefeated in the UFC during his second run with the promotion, defeating Manel Kape, Tim Elliott, David Dvorak and Matt Schnell. Nicolau won three of four during his initial UFC run, with those wins coming over John Moraga, Louis Smolka and Bruno Mesquita. Nicolau has competed 22 times as a professional MMA fighter and 10 of those encounters went the distance.
UFC Fight Night Kansas City takes place on Saturday, April 15 from the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri with Max Holloway and Arnold Allen headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
