A women’s strawweight division attraction has been added to UFC 287 according to Meni Mayer as Jaqueline Amorim faces Sam Hughes.
Amorim (6-0-0) is making her UFC debut in this bout and does so with an undefeated streak that has lasted over two years. Amorim has competed six times as a professional MMA fighter and none of those bouts went past the first round. Amorim is a former LFA Women’s Strawweight Champion, as she relinquished the title upon signing with the UFC.
Hughes (7-5-0) has won two of six under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Istela Nunes and Elise Reed. Hughes previously challenged for the LFA Women’s Strawweight Title, losing to then champion Vanessa Demopoulus at LFA 85 in July of 2020. Hughes has earned seven wins as a professional MMA fighter and three of those came by submission.
UFC 287 takes place on Saturday, April 8 from the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, Florida with Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
