REPORT: MATEUSZ GAMROT STEPS IN ON SHORT NOTICE, FACES JALIN TURNER AT UFC 285

By David Tees on 2/16/2023 2:57 PM

#10 Jalin Turner needed a new opponent to fight at UFC 285 after the withdrawal of #11 Dan Hooker and now he has one because Amy Kaplan of FanSided is reporting that #7 Mateusz Gamrot has accepted the short notice opportunity.

Turner (13-5-0) enters the contest riding a five fight winning streak, with those wins coming over Josh Culibao, Brok Weaver, Uros Medic, Jamie Mullarkey and Brad Riddell. Turner hasn’t been defeated in over three years, with that last loss coming to Matt Frevola at UFC 236. Turner has competed 18 times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those bouts went the distance.

Gamrot (21-2-0-1NC) has won four of his last five in the UFC, having beaten Scott Holtzman, Jeremy Stephens, Diego Ferreira and Arman Tsraukyan. Gamrot has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter and both came during UFC competition. Gamrot is winless when competing on UFC pay-per-view cards, as he was defeated by Beneil Dariush at UFC 280.

UFC 285 takes place on Saturday, March 4 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
