INTERNATIONAL MIXED MARTIAL ARTS FEDERATION CELEBRATES BEST OF AMATEUR MMA IN 2022 WITH IMMAF AMATEUR MMA AWARDS
The IMMAF annual awards ceremony took place at the Stark Arena, Belgrade, this afternoon
[16 February 2023. Belgrade] As the 2022 amateur MMA season comes to an end, IMMAF celebrates the biggest achievements of the past year with the 2022 IMMAF Amateur MMA Awards.
The ceremony took place on Thursday, February 16th at the Stark Arena in Belgrade, Serbia.
In this fifth edition of the Awards, the governing body for amateur MMA celebrated the achievements of athletes, coaches, officials, and other members of the mixed martial arts community who have made significant contributions to the sport.
The 2022 amateur MMA season saw an exciting year, with four continental championships and new stars along with new countries debuting on the IMMAF platform. The winners of the IMMAF Awards are determined through a nomination and voting process that involves members of the MMA community, including athletes, coaches, officials, and fans.
Inside the IMMAF Fighting Area, two-time world champions Sabrina de Sousa and Ramazan Gitinov, both Bahrain representatives, won for the second time the highly coveted Best Senior Male Athlete and Best Senior Female Athlete awards. Gadzhi Gadzhiev (Bahrain) took the Best Junior Athlete award, and Nina Nikolija Milosevic (Serbia) claimed the prize for Best Newcomer.
The event was followed by the Junior Finals of the 2022 IMMAF World Championships. Senior Finals will take place tomorrow, starting at 5 pm, in Stark Arena.
The IMMAF Awards features as part of IMMAF World Championships Week and Serbia BRAVE International Combat Week 2023, in conjunction with the Serbian MMA Federation and BRAVE Combat Federation.
