The UFC Bantamweight Title is going to be defended at UFC 288 according to the champ himself as Aljamain Sterling defends the gold against former two division UFC champion Henry Cejudo.
Sterling (22-3-0) is going to be making the third defense of his championship, previously defending it against Petr Yan and TJ Dillashaw. Sterling hasn’t been defeated in over five years, with his last loss coming to Marlon Moraes at UFC Fight Night 123 in December of 2017. Sterling is competing on his sixth straight UFC pay-per-view card and he is undefeated when competing at PPV events.
Cejudo (16-2-0) is competing for the first time in three years, with his last bout happening at UFC 249 in May of 2020. Cejudo is a former two division UFC champion, as he simultaneously held the bantamweight and flyweight straps before retiring in May of 2020. Cejudo has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter, with those coming to Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez.
UFC 288 is scheduled for Saturday, May 6 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
