A women’s strawweight division attraction has been added to the May 20 UFC card according to MMA Ideas as Karolina Kowalkiewicz faces Vanessa Demopoulos.
Kowalkiewicz (14-7-0) enters the contest on a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Felice Herrig and Silvana Gomez Juarez. Kowalkiewicz hasn’t been defeated in over a year, with her last loss coming to Jessica Penne at UFC 265. Kowalkiewicz has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title, losing to then champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 205.
Demopoulos (9-4-0) comes into the bout on a three fight winning streak, defeating Silvana Gomez Juarez, Jinh Yu Frey and Maria Oliveira. Demopoulos has suffered just a single defeat thus far during her UFC run, with that loss coming to JJ Aldrich at UFC On ESPN 30. Demopoulos has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them have come by decision.
UFC Fight Night is scheduled for Saturday, May 20 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
