Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane will battle for the vacant UFC Heavyweight Title in the main event of UFC 285.
A report has surfaced from Brett Okamoto of ESPN stating that #3 ranked heavyweight Sergei Pavlovich will serve as the backup for the UFC 285 main event. Pavlovich will have to make weight for the fight on Friday, with the heavyweight title fight weight limit being 265 pounds, and he will be qualified to replace either Jones or Gane if either pull out of the fight for any reason.
Pavlovich is currently scheduled to face Curtis Blaydes in the April 22 UFC Fight Night main event, no word has been given on how Pavlovich’s UFC 285 status affects his status for the April 22 fight.
