Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou left the promotion earlier this year due to a contract dispute.
It seems like Ngannou will never get a chance to fight in the UFC again, especially if UFC President Dana White has his way.
“No,” White told reporters at a UFC 285 media scrum (transcript via Matthew Wells of MMA Junkie). “No. We negotiated with him for years. It’s over, that’s over. He’ll never be in the UFC again.”
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane will meet for the vacant heavyweight title tonight in the main event of UFC 285.
White says the promotion tried negotiating with Ngannou and they won’t be doing that anymore going forward.
“Yeah, I never say never, but I’ll give you a never on that one,” White said. “We tried.”
