Goiti Yamauchi suffered a leg injury following a leg kick thrown by Michael Page on the main card opener of Bellator 292.
Bellator President Scott Coker says Yamauchi got x-rays done on the injury and he may have suffered a patella tendon rupture.
“Based on the X-ray, it’s a patella tendon rupture,” Coker said at the post-fight press conference (transcript via Kristen King of Bloody Elbow). “So that sounds very painful.”
Dr. David Abbassi also told Bloody Elbow that Yamauchi will need surgery to repair the damage, which could sideline the fighter for up to one year.
