FRANCIS NGANNOU CLAIMS THAT KAMARU USMAN WAS INJURED HEADING INTO UFC 286

Former UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman suffered a unanimous decision loss to UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC 286.

Francis Ngannou, former UFC Heavyweight Champion and current free agent, claims that Usman was injured heading into the title bout.

“I know that he didn’t train,” Ngannou said on his Youtube channel (transcript via Matthew Wells of MMA Junkie). “He didn’t have (time) to train properly because of a lot of injury, but he was there. He was there. It’s a victory, an unfortunate victory, but I think now he’s mentally healthy than what he was before.”

Usman had yet to publicly reveal what, if any, injuries he was dealing with heading into the third fight with Edwards.

Ngannou also believes that Usman will be welterweight champion again in the future.

“Yeah, let’s see what’s next. I believe he’s going to get it back. I believe it," says Ngannou.
