Paulo Costa has spent the last six-plus years in the UFC and that tenure will continue because the fighter has stated that he has agreed to a new four fight deal with the promotion.

Although the contract hasn't been signed yet, Costa says his significant other and girlfriend in Tamara Alves did a great job negotiating with the UFC.

“I haven’t signed the contract yet but we have reached a deal with the UFC regarding the pay,” Costa said to PVT (transcript via Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting). “It wasn’t easy, there was a lot of hard work, and I have to highlight Tamara’s brilliant work here.”

Costa last competed at UFC 278 in August of 2022, defeating former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold by unanimous decision.

The fighter also said that he would like to fight fellow top ranked middleweights Sean Strickland and Khamzat Chimaev.

“I want that, too,” Costa said of facing both men back-to-back in 2023. “[The UFC] wants to make sure this Chimaev fight happen at all costs, but I want to make both happen. We’ll see.”
