The UFC roster is down a heavyweight because UFC Roster Watch has reported that the promotion has opted to not re-sign Augusto Sakai, ending his tenure with the promotion.
Sakai went 5-4-0 in the UFC (with an overall MMA record of 16-5-1), with those wins coming over Don'Tale Mayes, Chase Sherman, Andrei Arlovski, Marcin Tybura and Blagoy Ivanov. Sakai last competed at UFC Fight Night 220 in February of this year, defeating the aforementioned Mayes by unanimous decision.
There is no word yet on where Sakai could sign with next.
