Goiti Yamauchi suffered a brutal knee injury against Michael Page at Bellator 292, an injury that was revealed to be a ruptured patella tendon.
The fighter believes the way that he suffered the injury was a first for all of MMA.
“I think that was a first in 30 years of MMA,” Yamauchi said to MMA Fighting.
Yamauchi has since undergone surgery to repair the damage and it will keep the fighter out of action for the majority of 2023.
One thing the fighter believes is that his return to action will depend on how fast his injured knee heals.
“It really depends on my recovery and confidence,” he said.
