A flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Kansas City according to Bloody Elbow as #4 Brandon Royval faces #5 Matheus Nicolau.
Royval (14-6-0) enters the contest riding a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Rogerio Bontorin and Matt Schnell. Royval is competing for the first time in almost a year, with his last bout happening at UFC 274 in May of 2022. Royval has earned 14 wins as a professional MMA fighter and nine of them have come by way of submission.
Nicolau (19-2-1) is undefeated during his second UFC run, with those wins coming over Manel Kape, Tim Elliott, David Dvorak and Matt Schnell. Nicolau hasn't been defeated in over four years, with his last loss coming to Dustin Ortiz at UFC On Fox 30 in July of 2018. Nicolau has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter and both of them came to past/current UFC fighters.
UFC Fight Night Kansas City takes place on Saturday, April 15 from the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri with Arnold Allen and Max Holloway headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
