Did my eyes deceive me or did I actually see a decent episode of RAW for once? I guess that is what you get when you stop filling the show with endless DX vs McMahon rubbish and actual focus on the other people on the RAW roster. On and when you remember that the second “W†in WWE stands for wrestling… Edge’s promo to start off the show was kind of more of the same although his line about the “retarded gorilla†was the best description I’ve heard of Cena’s ring work. Oh and didn’t Edge lose TLC III on SD in 2001?
I liked Jeff Hardy’s bust on the press conference last week…until someone decided that the joke needed to be spelt out for us. Just having Jeff deliver the line then leave would have been enough but then they had to kill it by running it into the ground all show long. That’s why the WWE can’t do comedy. The match with Nitro was surprisingly good and I hope their PPV rematch delivers the same action with a proper finish this time.
Jushin Liger on WWE TV!!! Even if it was only for three seconds – mark out time!!
So Trish’s advertised “retirement address†became a backstage skirmish to set up the main event? And how did Shane McMahon a) suddenly have the power to book matches when Vince was there and b) understand what Lita said because I couldn’t.
I don’t get the placement of Super Crazy onto RAW when ECW would have been better for him – although why they didn’t push him more in the SD Cruiserweight Division…oh wait I forgot, there isn’t one anymore. I also don’t get why they stuck with a complete stiff like Chris Masters for his RAW debut but Crazy managed to be entertaining all the same.
Talk about watching paint dry, that was pretty much a better option than the yawnfest that was the McMahons/big Show promos. And one again the two members of DX are capable of beating up 10 security guys but still can’t out fox two McMahons….And to add insult to injury, Vinnie Mac books himself to main event MSG next week. And he says he does these things for the good of the business and not his ego? I hate this feud with a passion!!
The Triple Threat tag match was a mess. I keep forgetting the Spirit Squad have the belts. In fact, I keep forgetting that there ARE tag belts on RAW. Apart from Ric Flair’s amusing reaction to kissing Maria (the lucky son-of-a… ) this segment was a waste of the Nature Boy to use him as a conduit for Kane ’s confrontation with Umaga.
It’s good that we have another team coming to RAW but Cryme Tyme? Despite being done tongue in cheek, I’m sure there is a backlash waiting to happen here. Give me TNA’s LAX any day – at least they come across as legit.
The main event was a real fun match, and the hot crowd helped it too. It came across as a real star studded main event match despite not actually being one but it worked and kept three feuds alive. Orton is getting worse in the ring. I think even Lita was better than him this week. I’m not surprised that Trish took the fall. I really hope that she goes out on a high rather than be jobbed out. Sometimes, a show of respect is justified for someone on the way out, especially when they given as much to the business as Trish has in her short time in it, which is more than can be said than for some…
After from a slightly sagging middle portion (starring the McMahons as usual) this was the first RAW in literally ages that I enjoyed. It was good to see the rest of the roster be pushed and the PPV set up without the usual suspects hogging the limelight.
Sadly, that won’t be the case next week when WWE returns to the Garden and Vince McEgo vs McSon-in-law main events…
Cheers

Raw was a solid show with good development of storylines. I always expect comedy every week from DX. They were too serious this week. I was hoping they would've dumped another load of s*** on the Mc's & Big Show or the likes. It is something how they can clear out all of security or all of the Spirit Squad, but take a beat down from the Mc's or Umaga. I love DX and I hope it lives long & proud. We were also letdown on Trish's retirement speech. I hope Carlito kicks Orton's ass at the PPV, but it is doubtful since he laid down for Hogan. I keep hoping that the Spirit Squad will go away. I hate to say it, but I'm afraid that Cena is as good as gone to SD.

Raw was good tonight! The six man tag team match was great! Trish looked fantastic! Lita looked a little better than last week. Still not a lot of moves though. Cena got a huge pop from the fans. All the men seemed very intense in the match, they all looked good. I'm glad Jeff didn't win the IC belt! Hell he's only been back three weeks. The match was good though. I wish the DX /McMahon feud was over with. Vince needs to get off my TV! Shane can stay though.

Raw was a good show from top to bottom this week. An A+ in my book, here is my thoughts on the show itself:
- Edge one again had the promo of the night.
- Jeff Hardy has showed me a lot since returning. He has had three solid matches and is becoming a good addition to the Raw roster.
- What was Rey Mysterio doing without his mask on Raw? Oops, that was the new leaner Chris Masters. Super Crazy was a surprise here, but I hope he career doesn’t go the same route as Tajiri, when he was moved to Raw.
- The Lita, Trish, Carlito, and Orton brawl was entertaining. I’m looking forward to the Orton/Carlito match at Unforgivin.
- Vince-Shane-Big Show: I won’t lie, I channeled flipped to Prison Break on FOX during this. I flipped back and D-X has just come out to hopefully save this segment. I actually like the meaner D-X.
- Carlito’s one liner was... well Cool, when he said “what the hell is this†and mimicked Orton’s pose.
- Cryme Tyme? More racism from Vince
- Up next were my favorite 4 wrestlers from the RAW brand: Randy Orton, Edge, John Cena, and Carlito on a 6 person tag along with Lita and Trish. Looking at the four male competitors of this match, you can’t help but notice that these guys are the future of this business. The crowd was loud and on their feet for this one. Orton’s “you can’t see me†on the ref after he R.K.Od Trish was hilarious. These 6 men and woman and a great back and forth contest that ended RAW in a good way.

The first five minutes of WWE RAW were the best not because Edge almost fell off the ladder, but because of the fan in the lower left of the screen held a TNA poster that made my night fulfilling. It's just too bad the poster never reappeared otherwise that would have been the best wrestling timeslot since September 4th, 1995.
Sincerely,
Mark
