Mitch Ramirez was set to be a part of the cast for The Ultimate Fighter 31, which is set to premier this Tuesday Night on ESPN and ESPN+.
However, plans changed for the fighter, as he was told by the reality show’s producers that he was being replaced on the show by one of Conor McGregor’s fighters.
“What he told me is that, ‘Conor landed today and brought two of his guys with them. He’s demanding they’re on the show. He has the prospects. Unfortunately you have the least amount of fights on your record, so you’re being replaced,'” Ramirez said on Fight Fluency (transcript via Simon Smanao of MMA Junkie). “To me, that was just such a blow, such a nut shot.”
There is no word yet on which of Conor McGregor’s fighters has replaced Ramirez on the reality show.
Ramirez, despite being disappointed in how things played out, understands who McGregor is and how the fight business plays out.
“Here’s the thing: I get it,” Ramirez said. “I understand who Conor McGregor is. I understand the way business works. I’m smart enough to understand that it wasn’t personal, personal, but it is personal because it’s my life, dude.”
