By David Tees on 6/1/2023 9:14 PM

Matt Schnell has been pulled from UFC 289 according to Christopher Reive, replacing him against David Dvorak is Stephen Erceg.

Dvorak (20-5-0) enters the contest riding a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the duo of Matheus Nicolau and Manel Kape. Dvorak hasn’t won a fight in over two years, with his last win coming over Juancamillo Ronderos at UFC Fight Night 188 in May of 2021. Dvorak is making his UFC pay-per-view card debut in this encounter, despite being with the promotion for over three years.

Erceg (9-1-0) is making his UFC debut in this encounter and he does so on the strength of a eight fight winning streak. Erceg has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to Sean Gauci at Hex Fight Series 11 in September of 2017. Erceg has picked up nine wins as a professional MMA fighter and six of them have come by way of submission.

UFC 289 takes place on Saturday, June 10 from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada with Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
