GOOD SHOW, BUT STRIKER'S COMMENT RUBS MANY THE WRONG WAY - SECOND BATCH OF READER FEEDBACK TO ECW

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 9/6/2006 10:35 AM
I thought tonight's episode of ECW was really good, with the exception of the main event. The opening "extreme rules" match was great and given sufficient time to develop. RVD and Sabu hit some awesome spots, and the double finisher -- even though Sabu missed -- looked cool as well. Test and Knox looked better tonight than they have on any of the previous shows, with the possible exception of the Hammerstein show.

Matt Striker's promo was pretty good until he made the comment about the stingrays; that really wasn't necessary because he was getting heat anyway. That being said, I still like the feud between Striker and Sandman; I just don't expect them to have any classic matches together.

I really wish we didn't have to be subjected to so many trailers for The Marine, but I'm sure it will only get worse over the next several weeks as the premiere gets closer.

I thought Joey Styles's reactions to the lap dance were hilarious; the facial expressions were great. Balls Mahoney vs. Stevie Richards was okay, and it was nice to see Stevie get a win, even if it did involve interference.

I was so psyched when CM "punked out" (pardon the pun) Shannon Moore. Moore's vignettes have been so brutally lame that it was great that someone finally shut him up.

The main event was probably my least favorite part of the show because it seemed more like a Raw match than an ECW match. DX just continues to defy all odds and logic, but one huge positive for this match is that it didn't involve any of the McMahons.

ECW is by far the best booked WWE show at this point. The in-ring action is usually pretty good, the long promos are kept to a minimum, and feuds are continually being built. For a one hour show, they manage to get a lot done, and the pacing has been excellent. Hopefully, as Heyman as promised, the show will continue to get even better.

In the past I've written a few feedbacks, making a point to make light in pointing out parts of the shows that stood out to me, and it's been a while since I submitted feedback. And sad to say, this feedback will be short and not very sweet. Due to the fact that tonight's ECW broadcast was pretty much ruined for me rather early on. You've probably guessed it already: Matt Striker's disgusting use of Steve Irwin's recent tragic death as cheap heat. I'm deeply disappointed in WWE creative. I know they won't issue one, but I sincerely feel that they owe WWE fans, and the Irwin family an apology.

There were great matches tonight, that amusing spot between Shannon Moore and CM Punk, and Triple H's SICK overhead swing of the sledgehammer to Paul's guard..a great spot the like that's been long in coming. It's unfortunate that for even one fan of the show, it had to be overshadowed by the disgraceful decision making on the part of WWE creative, and Matt for not refusing to take part in the spot.

Here are my view on this week ECW show.

- DX are shown in the back. The bingo joke would have been funny 10 years ago DX is becoming boring.

Match 1

Extreme Rules: Sabu & Rob Van Dam vs. Mike Knox & Test (with Kelly Kelly)

- Why does WWE never look into history RVD & Sabu were tag team for at least 6 months in the old ECW please just check to see if the things you say are true PLEASE.

- Match itself was good Test is being booked better than ever.

- Sabu missed the leg drop no matter he still hit most of them.

- Man, Ariel is just hot hot hot.

- The Matt Striker classroom I think this is a good way to start a new feud between Striker and Sandman.

- I guess next week at ECW at MSG (Man That feel so bizarre writing that). It Sandman vs. Striker in an Extreme Rules match.

- Cena movie - Should put it on Smackdown were Cena is going to.

- Joey don't be a baby man.

- Stevie Richards vs. Balls Mahoney

- OK match The run in was not a surprise.

- Man I was hoping CM was going to be in a match shame. I guess a battle of the Punks is forthcoming.

- The Big Show vs. DX

- No extreme rules, of course not, they never have two of those on 1 show.

- Match was a RAW match basically 5 minutes and a screwy finish. Did nothing for me.

Final Grade

C - Main event was not good hurt the overall show. I wonder if Dreamer injured as this was the second week he wasn't on the show?

On to MSG in 7 see you than.

I thought the show was above average as far as WWECW goes. The opening match was the best match of the night. I pretty much assumed DX would be standing tall at the end of the night. The only thing that really got me was the tasteless reference Matt Striker made to Steve Irwin's tragic death. There's controversy, then there's tasteless.

Ok, now that show was way better than the Raw last night.

Sabu & RVD vs. Knox & Test - All I can say was wow. They really need to extend to and extra hour so they can get tag team championship that tag team match brought back old times with RVD and Sabu.

I like they are changing Ariel and Kevin Thorne from vampires to more of freaks.

The feud with Matt Striker and Sandman might be pretty good but I'm not too keen on Striker's work.

Balls Mahoney vs Stevie Richards - All I can say Stevie wins Stevie wins I think that's his first when in a very long time.

DX vs Big Show - Wasn't special but I did like the spot when HHH hit Security Basham in the helmet with the sledge hammer.

I got to admit this was a great show it out shine Raw in every way. Also the crowd came through great being from GA myself we know how to get hyped for a good show.
