Amanda Serrano Quotes
On approach to 3-minute rounds vs 2 minutes:
You know what's so funny is that when I was in there, I really couldn't feel the difference. I actually, for one, like half of, in the fight, like six rounds, I was like, is this only three minutes, or did they go back to the two minutes?
I felt good, I was in really good shape. I trained really hard for this fight, knowing that I had to go out there and prove to everybody, prove people right, prove people wrong, that women can do whatever we put our minds to. Nothing is impossible, I went out there, I trained really hard, and I felt good. If I had to go another couple of rounds, I would have been able to, and my opponent showed that she came to fight at home.
On the sold-out crowd:
That means that people are interested in seeing us women out there and to make history. So I am super happy and proud that everybody came out to support us. This is history, we made history together. I'm just excited to see the future of women's boxing.
On continuing to fight at 12x3:
Yeah, anyone who wants to do it, and there's a lot of women out there who are willing to do it and are going to do it in the next couple of weeks, they're already with me to get this and fight three minute rounds, and I'm excited, you know, I set the bar, and now they're following in my footsteps, they've been wanting to do it for a very long time, I think I really enjoyed the three minutes. I was able to set up a little more of my punches. And I think I'm gonna continue with the three minutes. And I know the women out there, they saw that it's possible, that we can do it. And me and Daniela, we showed that we're capable. And I think there's gonna be a lot of women out there that are gonna say, yes, they did it, now I can do it. I think I see a lot more exciting fights as well.
On setting up her punches the first few rounds:
Of course, I had to, you know, it's the first 12-13 minute round, so I wanted to make sure I didn't give everything I had in the first couple rounds just in case all women are tough, just in case any of it will come in the later half. I wanted to make sure I had enough to sit on the tank. I still gave it, I came forward the whole fight. I just reserved my punches a little more just to make sure. next one we go, kind of play it just like any other day.
On fighting in Puerto Rico
Man, that would be amazing. That would be a dream. You know, I would be going, if I get the opportunity to fight in Puerto Rico, I will be there as an Undisputed Champion fighting there. I fought there obviously a couple of times, but I was just a single champion. And to go back there to be an Undisputed Champion and fighting for them will be a dream come true. So, fingers crossed, I have an amazing team that they usually do what I ask for. And so, we'll see.
Nakisa Bidarian
On Serrano vs. Ramos:
There were a lot of doubters about what was possible and what this fight meant. Some called it a misguided initiative, a marketing gimmick, and her and Danila showed that they could go 12 rounds, 3 minutes, non-stop energy, unlimited gas tank. She threw over 1,100 punches in that fight. So for anyone to say that women can't do it, they're misrepresenting the facts. The fact is, tomorrow night, there's an amazing fight in Saudi Arabia. But it's a champion of the world, the greatest heavyweight there is, versus Francis Ngannou, who's making his debut in boxing. It's an amazing spectacle. I can't wait to watch it tomorrow. But that's as much of a marketing initiative as what we did here tonight, except the difference is, she proved she can go 12 rounds, three minutes, nonstop.
Respect for Danila Ramos:
Shout out to Danila Ramos, right? She took this right away, said, I'm in, let's make history together, and she didn't back down. She fought to the very end, and you have to respect her.
On Orlando being the new home of boxing:
We're making Orlando the new home of boxing, right? Here at the Caribe Royale Resort. This is our third event. We're gonna be coming back here Friday, December 15th, headlining with Jake Paul, co-maining with the two unbelievable athletes you just saw, Shadasia Green and Franchon. It's going to be an electric night, and we're gonna do more events together here in 2024.
On Jake Paul’s next opponent:
Just regarding Friday, December 15, there was a plan to announce Jake Paul's opponent for that evening. Unfortunately, the opponent, which was a 7-1 boxer, has not been able to obtain a visa to come to the U.S., so we're currently reviewing alternative options for his opponent, but the plan is to try to announce it within the next two weeks.
On setting up a fight for Amanda in Puerto Rico:
Yeah, look, we're definitely focused on bringing an event to Puerto Rico in 2024, headlined by the first ever Puerto Rican Undisputed Champion, male or female. It's a matter of, you know, working with the government of Puerto Rico to make sure the structure is right to have an extremely successful event, not just in Puerto Rico
On Amanda being the A side
So here is a perfect example of why it's Amanda’s time, and it's her show and it's her way, or it's no way. In February, she headlined the Hulu theater against Erika Cruz. On that card was Alycia Baumgardner, on that card, was Skye Nicolson, on that card was Ramla Ali, an amazing night of women's boxing. But guess what? Tonight here at the Caribe Royal Resort in Orlando, Amanda did the exact same gate as that entire card did in New York City back in February. So she's the A side, she's the decision maker. You want to fight Amanda, Serrano, you come to Amanda Serrano's house.
Danila Ramos
On messages to the fans:
Today I realized a dream and I was able to make it come true. So never stop fighting for your dreams. Never stop fighting for your dreams.
On the strategy for the fight:
It was time for me to have this opportunity, so the world would get to know Danila Ramos the warrior. I’ve always been a woman who fought for women’s rights. I’m the second Brazilian World Champion and the first Black Brazilian Champion in the world.
Shadasia Green
On fighting 12 3-minute rounds and pioneering female boxing
i just continue to motivate others and try to follow Amanda’s footsteps. My next fight won’t be that per se, but I wouldn’t mind taking on that challenge.
On Jake Paul, Nakisa BIdarian and MVP and equity in the sport
We’re talking about what we did, but none of this stuff happened without Nakisa and Jake Paul coming into the boxing business. We can talk about “I’m a mogul, I’m this, I’m that.” Guess what? You weren’t getting paid.
On Franchon’s career
Were you a basketball player in college? Okay. Were you a singer? What’s that called? The same thing, the show American Idol? Were you a singer with a bad wig?
On facing off with Franchon
I am the truth and I’m going to show you on December 15th….I’m better than you.... show up and shut up
On fighting 12 3-minute rounds and pioneering female boxing
I’m also a businesswoman. If you pay me for that extra work, I have no problem. I’m always in the mood for progressing women’s boxing. That’s why I do what I do. Every time I step in the ring, win, lose, draw – I’m representing the sports as a whole. So if that’s the natural progression, and we’re also compensated for it, I have no problem. Work is work.
On what it takes to become a champion
You can never take anything away from a champion. To be a champion you have to take risks, and you have to take the good with the bad. If you look at the old school champions, we don’t condemn Muhammad Ali for losing, or condemn Mike Tyson for losing. We are fighters that put on a show to keep you guys entertained. Give us the support and give us the respect.
We’re risking our lives every time we step into that ring giving 120%. I’ve been doing this a very long time. I have pedigree with our main event, Danila Ramos. We fought 16 years ago in the 2007 Pan American Games where I won a gold medal. I was a co-main event on Amanda Serrano’s card, and I’ve seen her progression to get to this point. So, for all the people who discredit and disrespect me, understand that when this is over and done, my name is in the history books and you’ll have to respect me.
I’m on a mission to continue to prove why I’m one of the greatest. You don’t have to like my style, but I don’t win by chance. I win because I put in the work. On December 15 I’m going to put in the work, and I’m going to show you why I’m the heavy-hitting diva – and the first-ever undisputed super middleweight champion in history, as well as the first-ever to represent the United States in the Pan American Games as the multi-talented, multi-dimensional renaissance woman that I am. If you can’t respect my boxing, you’re going to have to respect my hustle.
On Shadasia Green’s background in basketball and as an opponent
I’m a fighter who learned how to box. Fuck that hair. I want the belt. You can snatch my wig off. I'm still that girl.
