A featherweight division attraction has been added to UFC 296 according to Marcel Dorff as Andre Fili faces Lucas Almeida.
Fili (22-10-0) has won just one of his last five under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming against Bill Algeo at UFC Fight Night 210. Fili is competing on a UFC pay-per-view event for the first time in almost four years, with his last such appearance coming at UFC 246 in January of 2020. Fili has earned 22 wins as a professional MMA fighter and 10 of those have come by way of decision.
Almeida (14-2-0) has won just one of two thus far in the UFC and that lone win came over Michael Trizano at UFC Fight Night 207. Almeida also competed on Dana White’s Contender Series, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Daniel Zellhuber during the 2021 season. Almeida has competed 16 times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of those bouts went the distance.
UFC 296 takes place on Saturday, December 16 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Leon Edwards and Colby Covington headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
