By David Tees on 11/6/2023 8:54 PM

A light heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 297 according to UFC Roster Watch as #4 Jan Blachowicz will again face #5 Aleksandar Rakic.

Blachowicz (29-10-1) has won just one of his last four under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Rakic in their first meeting at UFC On ESPN 36 in May of 2022. Blachowicz is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, defeating Dominick Reyes to win the gold at UFC 253. Blachowicz only competed once in 2023, making it his least active year as a pro MMA fighter since 2014.

Rakic (14-3-0) is competing for the first time since the loss to Blachowicz, which came via a knee injury in the third round of their bout. Rakic hasn’t picked up a victory in over two years, with that last win coming against Thiago Santos at UFC 259 in March of 2021. Rakic has earned 14 wins as a professional MMA fighter and nine of them have come by way of KO/TKO.

UFC 297 takes place on Saturday, January 20 from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
