JULIA BUDD OUT, ASPEN LADD IN AT THE 2023 PFL CHAMPIONSHIPS

By David Tees on 11/8/2023 6:01 PM

Julia Budd has “refused to fulfill her contractual obligation” according to a PFL Press Release (via MMA Junkie) and Aspen Ladd will step in on short notice to fight Kayla Harrison at the 2023 PFL Championship.

Ladd (11-4-0) has won two of three under the PFL banner, defeating the duo of the aforementioned Budd and Karolina Sobek. Ladd also went 4-3-0 during her time in the UFC, with those four wins coming over Lina Lansberg, Tonya Evinger, Yana Santos and Sijara Eubanks. Ladd has earned 11 wins as a professional MMA fighter and six of those have come by way of KO/TKO.

Harrison (15-1-0) is looking to rebound from her first professional MMA defeat, which came to Larissa Pacheco at the 2022 PFL Championships. Harrison is competing just once this year, which makes it her least active year as a professional fighter since 2019. Harrison has competed 16 times as a professional MMA fighter and just four of those bouts went the distance.

2023 PFL Championships is set for Friday, November 24 from The Anthem in Washington DC with Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Clay Collard headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
