Julia Budd was replaced by Aspen Ladd for a fight against Kayla Harrison next week at the 2023 PFL Championships.
It also appears that Budd’s time in the PFL has come to an end altogether because PFL CEO Peter Murray has told MMA Fighting that the promotion has released Budd.
“She’s been released,” Murray said. “That is correct [she is no longer in PFL].”
Budd won two of five during her time in the PFL, with those wins coming over Kaitlin Young and Martina Jindrova.
Murray also says the newly made fight between Harrison and Ladd should be better that Harrison vs. Budd would’ve been.
“While originally fans and we had wanted to see Kayla and Julia, but that didn’t get done,” Murray said. “So Aspen, she’s been training. She’s been looking forward to getting back in the cage, and the timing was right given the circumstances. I think it’s a great matchup. Aspen beat Julia. It should be a better fight. It’s on.”
